This department is responsible for corporate financial accounting and reporting and is comprised of the following groups: Consolidations & Financial Systems, Compensation & Benefits Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Disbursements (Accounts Payable and Payroll), Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Reporting, Receivables Management, Sales & Marketing Accounting and Tax & Subsidiary Accounting.
Corporate Internal Audit Team, are the Consultants of Risk Control, Efficiency, Best Practices and Fraud and Error Prevention for all functions of our worldwide organization. We interact with, and physically visit, all managed and owned (and few Franchised) hotel-resort-time share properties Worldwide, as well as all auditable business functions such as Regional Sales, Corporate offices, etc. Effective and efficient communication is the heart of our interaction in our operations. The purpose of Risk Management is to preserve the assets and earning power of Starwood and its business partners through the application of sound risk management techniques within the objectives and guidelines established by senior management.
It involves the identification, analysis and evaluation of risk to which the company may be exposed, the design and implementation of programs to fund/finance these risks in the most cost effective manner possible and the effective management of identified risks through the development and implementation of "leading edge" loss prevention and claim management programs.
- Corporate Information Systems
This department is responsible for financial information systems including SAP, Hyperion and PeopleSoft; project management for new systems development; management of central systems; and Help Desk support for local network users.
This department is responsible for finance and treasury operations including cash management and reporting, foreign exchange, bank account administration, stock transfer, intercompany loan administration, letters of credit, debt portfolio management and cash forecasting and analysis.
This department is comprised of the following groups: Capital Management/ Project Accounting, Budgeting & Forecasting and Hotel Finance Divisions for North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa-Middle East and Asia Pacific.
This department is responsible for federal, state, local and international tax operations.
The mission of the Corporate Development Group is to assess, develop, and implement strategic opportunities and investments. The group works to source new business opportunities in line with the company corporate strategy, including the formation of strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, and equity investments. Additionally, the group works with operational units internally to provide both transactional and financial support and expertise
