Under the direction of the Cage Operations Manager, the Relief Manager of Cage Operations is responsible for the operation of all cage activities in the absence of the Cage Operations Manager including providing guidance to Supervisors, and frontline team members. This role collaborates with other departments to ensure that team members and guests receive a best-in-class experience. The Relief Manager of Cage Operations is accountable for all duties performed within the department to ensure that Yaamava’ Resort & Casino policies, practices, and Tribal Gaming Regulations are met.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Ensures all team members follow Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations to ensure superior guest satisfaction.  Provides updates to Sr. Manager and Manager on progress of department activities and provides feedback to continuously enhance growth and efficiencies. 

2. Ensures the security and accountability of enterprise funds is enforced by all team members. 

3. Monitors and coordinates cashier cage shift activity to ensure compliance with Yaamava service standards.  Responds to formal guest complaints and resolves concerns in a timely and professional manner.  

4. Maintains appropriate staffing levels, approves time off (vacations, personal, etc.), and reviews performance on an ongoing basis for Supervisors. 

5. Conducts investigations and submits responses pertaining to reports of exceptions found. 

6. Assists with internal and external audits and makes recommendations for improvements and/or changes to policies and procedures on a continuous basis. 

7. Ensures compliance with safety requirements as well as the Emergency Action Plan, and Business Continuity Plan. 

8.  Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department and assumes other responsibilities, duties, tasks, and assignments that contribute to the mitigation or response to any public health emergency. 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.   Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.  Makes hiring recommendations and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for Supervisors and line level team members. 

Education/Experience/Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. 

  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant career experience is required. 

  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience is required. 

  • Related, relevant, and or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above. 

  • Knowledge of cash management handling, AML Compliance and Internal Controls is required. 

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality relative to financial data, casino policies, and promotions. 

  • Advanced proficiency in oral and written communications skills. 

  • Willingness to assume overall responsibility relative to the performance of Cage and Credit Operations. 

  • Ability to maintain interpersonal working relationships among all team members. 

  • Must be able to address stressful situations while maintaining a positive attitude and interacting with guests in a congenial and polite manner. 

  • Ability to analyze and interpret departmental data to determine needs and results. 

  • Ability to be flexible and to perform assigned duties under frequent time pressures and an interruptive environment. 

  • Must have polished presentation, facilitation, and management instincts. 

  • Must be able to perform a broad variety of tasks that require an irregular work schedule. 

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
