JOB SUMMARY: The Waterpark Cashier is responsible for maintaining the monetary fund's of the waterpark fees, preparing reliable daily financial information, assisting guests and processing them (indoor and outdoor) as well as Treetop Play areas (Sandusky) and communicates all omissions and deviations to appropriate management.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent required.
LICENSE/PERMITS REQUIRED: None
KNOWLEDGE OF COMPUTER HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE: Micros System and cash register equipment experience helpful.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: At least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred. Prior cash handling required.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Strong knowledge of accounting functions is helpful. Must be team-oriented and enjoy a hands-on environment. Must be detail-oriented and able to balance multiple responsibilities and tasks. Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills needed. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work in a stationary position for long periods of times (up to 5 hours) Must be able to work and be flexible with all shifts, weekends, and holidays. Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger. Collect accurate information and resolve conflicts. Must be willing to cross train in other accounting or hotel-related areas. Must be able to prioritize job functions in order to meet deadlines. Must be able to communicate effectively with other departments to achieve common hotel goals. Must be able to work in stressful, high-pressure situations. Must be able to show initiative in job performance, including anticipating what needs to be done before it becomes a necessity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS: Be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers, and associates at all times. In charge of guest Locker Inventory within the Waterpark areas. Assist in selling Locker Keys and returning of keys. Handle cash for all Waterpark fees upon guest entering Waterpark. Take Cabana Reservations and provide check-in/check-out procedures. Work with Online Waterpark Sales. Provide guests with Full Day/Half Day Pass Sales and take monies accordingly. Assist with Group Sales for Waterpark guests. Monitor wristband entry to the WP and Age of kid's entry w/parents or without. Monitor Tree Top play area (Sandusky) Assist in cashier duties in outdoor adventure sales add-ons (Sandusky) Retrieve and process all deposits in accordance with Kalahari Resorts standards. Maintain accurate supplies of change and provide change to all departments as scheduled. Prepare Cash Short/Over Reports on a daily, monthly and yearly basis, and advise management on material variances in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. Issue or redeem cashier banks as needed by the departments with the approval of the Director of Finance, Assistant Controller, or Front Office Manager. Audit cashier banks as required by Kalahari Resort standards and maintain all documentation. Process petty cash receipts and reimbursements on a regular basis and inform management of any deviations to policy. Maintain a complete record of all funds transferred to and from the bank. Maintain all cashier contracts. Process "due backs" on a timely basis. Ensure that all cashier's operating equipment is in good condition and working order (cash drawers, cashier vaults, credit card equipment, etc.) if applicable. Maintain adequate inventory of cashier supplies, including deposit envelopes, credit card vouchers, and other printed materials. Maintain the security of the safe, its combinations, and all cashier vaults. Keep management informed of any unusual operational or financial events and/or deviations of policies and procedures. Maximize productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in finding and implementing solutions. Prepare copy and distribute reports as necessary. Attend and participate in Daily Promise Meetings, Department Meetings, and Training required by management. Perform other duties as requested by management.
