Who you will be working with

The King George is a 153-room boutique hotel located in Union Square and is a member of the Greystone Hotels group.

This position works under the day to day direction of the General Manager and Director of Sales to ensure all revenue goals are achieved and to increase overall sales by soliciting past and new business for the King George Hotel. The Sales Manager is responsible for prospecting, outside sales calls to qualified accounts, conducting site inspections and fostering relationships within the Corporate, SMERF and Group markets. Assist with in-house maintenance of existing accounts as necessary.

What you will be doing

The Sales Manager will also be responsible for inquires pertaining to meeting room functions.  Primary focus of sales efforts will be within the San Francisco City/County market as well as surrounding cites. In addition, the Sales Manager will target out of state feeder markets deemed important to the overall corporate/group sales efforts of the hotel. Other duties may be assigned.  

Additional Duties Include:

  • Responsibilities include selling guest rooms and services to transient market customers through corporate accounts, travel agencies, individual travel and wholesale groups.
  • Duties include managing current accounts, ensuring proper solicitation of all transient markets, and may include travel to major cities within market.
  • Duties also include preparing and presenting effective proposals, presentations, maintaining well-organized documentation and reports, and coordination of customer service requirements with hotel operations staff as appropriate.
  • Must be familiar with the San Francisco City and County markets.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Solicitation of accounts to gain new business as well as maintenance of existing accounts as it pertains to the Corporate, SMERF, and Group markets.
  • Call or visit all past group and meeting producers.
  • Familiarization with Social Media as champion on property level.
  • Creativity in coordinating VIP client and preferred customer holiday gifts.
  • Conduct qualified outside calls.
  • Schedule sites inspection - this can include lunch, cocktails, or special group invitations.
  • Host and entertain clients at the King George on a consistent basis.
  • Record all sales activities in Delphi to be reviewed in weekly and monthly sales meetings.
  • Sales trips as specified in the travel schedule and approved by the Director of Sales and General Manager.
  • Develop target accounts monthly and pursue for new business.
  • Adhere to the daily, weekly, and monthly actions outlined in the 30/60/90 sales action plan. This will be routinely reviewed with the Director of Sales.
  • Review leads and short term goals with the Director of Sales.
  • Complete all weekly and month end reports as directed.
  • Meet goals as outlined in the budget.
  • Attend industry events and networking functions.
  • Return all client phone calls and emails promptly.
  • Review competition consistently.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times i.e. promptness, appearance, relationships with clients, colleagues and staff.

The ideal candidate for this position

Seeking a passionate, energetic, sales professional with at least 2 years of hotel experience. Candidate will have a creative and attentive eye to detail. Applicants from within the Bay Area and with sales experience are preferred.
