EarthView®:

Hersha has developed and implemented a unique program dedicated to Sustainable Hospitality. That initiative, EarthView®, is supported by Hersha’s CEO, President, and CFO and is quickly becoming the industry standard for fully integrated environmental and community policies that make sustainable hospitality a genuine reality. EarthView delivers environmental and conservation programs that positively impact a hotel operation's bottom line while simultaneously improving the well‐being of our guests, our employees, our communities, and our planet.

Environmental Impact: In 2016, initiatives implemented through EarthView reduced our portfolio’s energy consumption by 19%, water consumption by 9%, and waste sent to landfill by 45% per occupied room versus our baseline year of 2010.

Financial Impact: Since the inception of the program, EarthView has saved $6.8 million from initiatives implemented across the portfolio and has created $50 million in value for the company over the past year. The EarthView program was awarded NAREIT’s prestigious Leader in the Light award, placing Hersha first amongst Lodging & Resort companies in four of the last five years for superior portfolio‐wide energy use practices and sustainability initiatives.

Social Impact: Additionally, over the past year, Hersha associates volunteered 4,700 hours to our local communities, provided 76,000 new bars of soap to families in developing nations, and clean water to 1,300 people in water‐scarce areas around the world.
