About This Job

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

 

To provide an environment where the lives and property of hotel guests and employees are maintained in a safe status at all times through effective and equal administration of both loss prevention and guest satisfaction.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:

Acts of behalf of the General Manager;

  • Manages and oversees the safety and security of hotel guests and employees in order to minimize the liability exposure of the hotel.
  • Supports the operations of other hotel departments on an as needed basis with any expertise through communications and training specific to their departments. 
  • Promotes a positive role model for all and is in keeping with the highest hospitality standards and goals.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • May be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
  • Required to fully comply with rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities.
  • Initiates communications with hotel guests by phone, in writing, or in person to follow up on incidents which have taken place in the hotel.
  • Attends necessary meetings and compiles, maintains, and distributes statistical information on a daily basis in order to provide accurate data for analysis and planning for department and other hotel functions.
  • Responds quickly to emergency calls such as bomb threats, tornadoes, earthquakes, medical emergencies and robberies when called upon in order to coordinate hotel activities.
  • Coordinates the hiring of qualified personnel as needed for special functions.
  • Operates emergency command center.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Varied hours and days, including weekends and holidays.

Lifting 30 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 10 lbs.

Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.

 

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Ability to work with all types of people and command large numbers of people in difficult or crisis situations.

Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Must have three years minimum supervisory experience, two years middle management, or one year experience as a department head.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:

Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certificates.

CPR Certification and/or Basic First Aid Training preferred.
