JOB SUMMARY Assist the Activities Department with company-wide entertainment which includes special events, guest activities, vendor supervision, inventory, corporate group activities, birthday parties, and team building.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma

LICENSE/PERMITS REQUIRED: Valid driver's license required.

REQUIRED SKILLS: General knowledge of recreation programming, entertainment, and implementation for all ages preferred. Written communication and public speaking skills are desirable.

KNOWLEDGE OF COMPUTER HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE: Possess excellent basic math skills and have the ability to operate a cash register or POS System.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Two years of relevant work experience in activities, events, and team building helpful.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Possible work exerting up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours). Ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays and extended hours.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly. Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary. Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the issues raised by Associates, Supervisors, Department Heads, Senior Management, and guests. Must be able to adapt to a broad range of customer interactions, inquiries, and complaints. Must be able to make independent decisions while maintaining strong ethical standards consistent with company policy, rules and the ability to maintain confidential information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS Understand policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs of Kalahari Resorts. Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service at all times. Give directions and inform guests about activities, events and locations daily. Contribute; create and research ideas for new crafts, participate and plan activities for events and holidays, new games, competitions, and assist with those activities and weekly newsletters. Contribute to finding entertainment for events. Conduct games, arts and crafts, contests, competitions and events. Give guests prizes, tokens, and awards and record their attendance when participating in activities. Produce samples of arts and crafts for guests to view for various activities. Place directional signs for events when needed. Host karaoke/Kalahari Idol Preliminaries, collect and file entries. Maintain storage room supplies, costumes, games, keeping it organized, clean, and items returned into the proper locations. Request and retrieve supplies, transfer requests and purchase orders, needed for daily use from central storage and kitchen. Fold, distribute, and assist with printing activities guides and stock in 22 designated locations. Assist with setting up, decorating, taking down items for daily activities and set up cart for the next day. Answer telephone, record and relay messages, answer guest questions and inform them about Kondos when in the office. Promote all areas of the Resort to guests and be knowledgeable of the general area. Open and close Activity Hut in the summer. Take photos during activities and events when requested. Understand how to use equipment to carry out activities such as: copy machine, laminator, paper cutter, steamer, helium, popcorn machine, karaoke machine. Escort Kenya and hand out autographed photos to guests. Understand the Kenya Performance Manual and be aware of how the costume functions. Know hand signals to communicate with the person inside the costume. Know how to put costume together and take apart, clean and launder. Know how to prep costume for appearance and travel plus where all items are located. Understand appropriate safety procedures. Participate in events as costume characters when needed. Attend and participate in Daily Promise Meetings.
