As a member of the Mountain Sports School supervisory team, the Childcare Supervisor is responsible for coordination and oversight of all aspects related to the daily operation of the childcare facility. These operations include both indoor activity along with winter sport and summer day camp programming. The Childcare Supervisor must ensure the development and safety of the children attending the Stratton childcare facility, in accordance with state and federal legislation, policies and procedures. The Childcare Supervisor will ensure that the facility staff is supervised, well-trained and that the facilities are clean, safe and well maintained. Must keep current, accurate and confidential client and program files.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or Bachelors preferred or degree in a related field.
A Vermont Early Childhood and Afterschool Program Director Step One Certificate; or successful completion of a three college credit course in Program Management for Early Care and Education, School Age Care and Education, or in Staff Supervision related to Early Care and Education of Children, and three college credit course in curriculum.
3 to 5 years experience as a Head Teacher or Assistant Director in a childcare program.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of child development, theories and practices, including safe and appropriate activities for children is paramount. Detailed understanding of relevant state legislation, regulation, policies and procedure that ensure children are supervised and safe at all times. A strong understanding of business operation and financial management, with resort experience a plus.
This position requires strong skill sets in the areas of team building, staff supervision and development, effective written/verbal communication, analytical thinking and problem solving, general expense and resource management, general office administration.
