Summary

Hires, trains and directs the banquet staff in servicing all banquet activities to ensure a successful function and repeat business. Attend weekly meetings including pre-convention meetings, BEO meeting, Menu tasting and daily supervisor meetings. As a member of Talk Stick Resort, he/she will work closely with all clients to ensure that all details of their event run as smoothly as planned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly manages the Banquet Set-up Manager, Captains, and Beverage Supervisors who supervises team members in the Banquet Department of Talking Stick Resort. Assists the Manager in the direction, coordination, and evaluation of Banquet and Event Staff. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• In this position, 10% of the time is spent on strategic planning with a focus on achieving goals set by the Banquet Manager and executive management.  90% of the time is spent providing operational leadership, overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Banquet team to ensure that strategic goals are executed effectively.
• Hires, schedules, and trains all banquet staff. 
• Oversee team member Performance Management.
• Ensures excellent customer service and guest experience.
• Works closely with Banquet Set-up Manager to create weekly schedule as well as updates or revises schedules daily if needed.
• Able to work in fast paced service environment.
• Performs assigned input work in compiling annual budgets.
• Prepares and coordinates the periodical performance reviews of personnel.
• Understand and manages HRIS systems
• Hires and trains Tribal Members consistent with the casino’s Community and Indian Preference guidelines.
• Ensures proper billing and charges to guests for their events, prepares charges for guests to review at the end of the event; collects payment if necessary.
• Supervises the setup of function rooms to include placement of tables, audio / visual items, linens, silver, china, and glassware according to event order specifications. Visually inspects function rooms and equipment prior to functions for cleanliness, proper inventory, and set up.
• Provides empathetic management approach to our team members and clear and frequent communication of daily activities and department goals.
• Supervises clean-up of function room and proper breakdown and storage of equipment.
• Attends meetings such as BEO meeting and pre-convention meetings.
• Orders supplies as required by the department.
• Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Credit Card Compliance requirements commonly known as PCI (Payment Card Industry) Compliance by attending training provided by Casino Arizona, at least once a year or more if required by management. Signature verification of course attendance will be required.
• Responsible for the enforcement of PCI (Payment Card Industry) Compliance regulations to protect card holder data and adhere to the standards to protect the guests’ private card information. This includes, but is not limited to, observing and reporting inappropriate card handling activity, of either customers or by employees, as defined by PCI.
• Responsible for the enforcement of all applicable regulations, under the code of Federal Regulations, Title 31, Chapter X, as it pertains to this position. This includes, but is not limited to, observing and reporting suspicious activity, of either customers or employees, as defined in the Code of Federal Regulations.
• Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all applicable regulations under the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 31, Chapter X, by attending Title 31/Anti-Money Laundering training, provided by Casino Arizona, at least once a year or more if required by management and outlined in the Title 31 Minimum Internal Controls.

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or GED required. College degree in Hospitality Management preferred. 5 years supervisory/management experience in the Food & Beverage industry with at least 3 years as a banquet supervisory role in a banquet environment, preferably in a high-volume hotel or resort required; and/or an equivalent combination of education, experience or training

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Must possess a Maricopa County Food Handlers Card.
• Knowledge of Arizona State Liquor Laws - Title 4 and/or Arizona Alcohol Awareness certification required.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have excellent PC skills and broad knowledge of current and standard software applications and hotel systems (InfoGenesis/Agilysys (POS), Microsoft Office, Delphi, Amadeus, Visual One, etc.).

Other Qualifications:

• Must have comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette Must be reliable, trustworthy and possess a pleasant personality.
• Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware.
• Should have previous working experience of all Banquet department positions.
• Ability to diagram/plan event to scale.
• Knowledge of all applicable federal, state and local health and safety regulations.
• Ability to set realistic goals and standards
• Must have excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work harmoniously with others and be a team player.
• Ability to handle pressure and difficult situations.
• Always presents a professional and well-groomed appearance.
• Must be able and willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Must possess shipping and receiving knowledge.

Language Skills

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Knowledge of multiple languages is a plus.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 75 pounds. Ability to move or push goods on a hand cart/truck weighing a maximum of 200 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to secondary smoke. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Will be required to work outdoors in uncomfortable weather conditions.
