Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, and the HR Manager will lead and mentor a team of dynamic HR Specialist in addressing talent management, employee engagement, organizational design and core management issues. This key role will partner with stakeholders across the San Manuel to build an effective, engaged and inspired workforce. The HR Manager will collaborate with HR colleagues and department management throughout the San Manuel to diagnose root causes and drive solutions for issues negatively impacting productivity and the employee experience. He/she/they will also collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and execute specific organizational performance and engagement programs, to ensure team members have knowledge of and access to best in class practices, policies, and resources. Helping to lead employee engagement across the San Manuel, the HR Manager will play a critical role in supporting the employee engagement strategy. The SEL Counselor (School Counselor) plays an essential role providing best in class counseling services for individuals with social, emotional, behavioral, or other needs that promote positive well-being. The School Counselor assists students individually and in groups with their educational, social, and personal growth by upholding the school's mission, and values, aligned to the Tribe’s 2040 vision. Reporting to the Principal, the School Counselor creates therapeutic preventions and interventions for the purposes of fostering both positive mental health and learning environments for all students pre-K through fifth grade and provides a wide range of school counseling services to children and families that include screening and assessment, individual and group counseling, collaboration with families, and peer groups. The School Counselor collaborates with the school leadership teams to plan and implement site-based support and will work with or refer to other agencies as appropriate. The School Counselor supports the development of a safe, successful learning environment and positive school culture by partnering with teachers, administrators, staff and families.
******** Open to SMBMI Tribal members and community members ********The San Manuel Fire Department's mandate is to provide emergency and non-emergency services to protect the lives and property of tribal citizens, employees, patrons, and guests of the San Manuel reservation as well as to safeguard environmental, cultural and economic resources. The department is called upon to ensure fire safety on the reservation and to protect the lives of those within the community. Also critical in the San Manuel Fire Department's mission is to develop, implement and maintain innovative prevention programs and strategies, lifesaving and safety education and training to the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians community. The department fosters partnerships with other tribal departments, as well as outside public safety agencies, to promote a dynamic emergency response capability. Under the supervision of the Special Operations Supervisor, the Reserve Firefighter accomplishes a variety of duties in the protection of life and property. Participates in the combating, extinguishing and prevention of fires as well as providing emergency medical care, rescue and protection of individuals from hazardous environments. Maintains fire station, grounds, and equipment, participates in fire prevention inspection, fire prevention, and suppression training.
The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (SMBMI) is a self-governing nation that has established tribally managed governmental units to enhance and support services on the San Manuel reservation. The San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission (SMTGC) is the governmental unit created by tribal ordinance as the primary regulator of gaming within the SMBMI’s jurisdiction, including the Yaamava’ Resort & Casino. The SMTGC, which includes the Surveillance department, is responsible for maintaining legal and regulatory compliance, ensuring a high level of integrity, and safeguarding Tribal and Yaamava’ Resort & Casino assets.Under the direction of the Surveillance Systems Supervisor, the Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery for mission critical systems. This role serves as a technical expert on systems administration in the deployment, configuration, security, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the back end infrastructure in a large and complex-computing environment. The Senior Systems Administrator also investigates and analyzes the feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications. The Senior Systems Administrator is also responsible for supporting Technical Surveillance leadership by mentoring, training and assisting other Surveillance Systems Administrators. Areas of responsibility include all surveillance systems at properties owned and operated by SMBMI including Yaamava’ Resort & Casino, and numerous SMBMI remote site locations.
The Instructional Design Specialist (IDS) supports the Learning & Development team to meet enterprise and Tribal needs through leadership development, skills-based development, various learning projects, and organizational development initiatives to promote the training and enhancement of all San Manuel employees. The goal is to support learners in acquiring knowledge, skills, and competencies in an effective and engaging manner to support a high-performance culture. The IDS works as an integral part of a consultative and collaborative learning and development team responsible for the assessment, design, development, evaluation, and deployment of quality learning opportunities for the enterprise. The IDS reports directly to the Manager, Learning and Development and is responsible for the analysis, recommendation, design, development, maintenance, and quality assurance of online learning modules, live web-based training sessions, instructor-led training materials, and other supporting materials as needed, following an instructional design process. The IDS employs strong interpersonal, written, and visual communication skills to bring together text, images, video, and audio to communicate and educate our talent.

Under the direction of the Department of Public Safety (DPS) Shift Sergeant, the Public Safety Assistant (PSA) is a uniformed, unarmed position responsible for providing physical security to the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (SMBMI) Reservation and all its tribal citizens, employees, customers, facilities, operations, and assets, including the Yaamava Resort and Casino at San Manuel. This position requires exceptional customer relations skills. PSAs must deliver critical security services in a business-oriented, customer service, courteous and professional manner. PSAs are involved with the public safety and security rules and regulations under the State of California, Federal, and Tribal Government codes, securing an assigned area, assisting with securing of incident scenes, identifying victims/witnesses, locating evidence and may be asked to assist in the preparing of appropriate reports.
Under the direction of the Sous Chef, the Tribal Cook (Advanced Line Cook) prepares cuisine items for guest consumption, utilizing only approved recipes. The Tribal Cook is responsible for upholding directed cooking methods and ingredients as set by Food & Beverage/Culinary Management. This position maintains all food, equipment and kitchens to set health codes and tribal standards. The Tribal Cook maintains a positive, team oriented and accommodating attitude toward guests (internal as well as external), fellow team members, management, and owners at all times. The Tribal Cook operates in representation of the culinary team’s best in class culture, while championing the goals and priorities of the Tribe in a manner that reflects and upholds the Tribal Community’s vision, mission and values. This venue is a high visibility food outlet due to serving the owners of the enterprise.
Under the direction of the Captain – the Lieutenant is an armed position that administers, oversees, and coordinates the day to day activities of all DPS components. The stated goal of the department is to deliver best in class security services, in accordance with current policies, procedures, and established objectives. The Lieutenant is responsible for the effective management and success of their assigned Division; accountable for consistently delivering exceptional leadership of their teams and value to the organization. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel and under the direct supervision of designated attorneys, the Summer Law Clerk performs a range of legal duties on an as-needed basis, such as reviewing, revising and developing Tribal government ordinances and related policies, drafting pleadings and memoranda, conducting research and analysis, initially reviewing and revising contracts, preparing government resolutions, requests for approval, and accompanying presentations for Tribal leadership, and providing recommended courses of action based on the preceding. The Summer Law Clerk provides other professional-level non-legal research and assistance supporting a team of attorneys to enable the efficient and effective delivery of legal services to Tribal government and enterprise partners.
Please note: This role is based in our Irvine, CA office.The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is seeking an exceptional Student Investment Analyst with demonstrated interest in investments/asset management to assist the Investment Strategies team in managing the Tribe's sovereign wealth fund. The sovereign wealth fund is managed similar to leading university endowments, focused on long-term growth-oriented investments across all asset classes and heavily weighted toward alternative investments such as private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, and private real assets. This position will provide the Student Investment Analyst with a front-row seat to support managing an institutional endowment-style investment portfolio including asset-class and market research, asset allocation, manager diligence and selection, performance analysis, portfolio management, and peer benchmarking. Under the direction of the Investment Strategies Director, the Student Investment Analyst will work closely with current Investment Analysts and assist the team with ad-hoc projects to enhance our investment processes as well as various team-directed research projects.
Reporting to the Sr. VP, Human Resources, the Director of Compensation and Benefits is a leader in San Manuel’s Human Resources (HR) department. The Director of Compensation and Benefits is responsible for the strategy, research, design, and overall management of total reward policies and programs (base salary, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, market pricing, and benefits), as well as the associated training, communication, and technology enablers to support the organization’s values, vision and goals. This includes being the key thought leader promoting benefits and compensation into the integration of the entire enterprise portfolio offerings to the organization.
Under the direction of the Director, Surveillance Technical, the Manager, Surveillance Systems is responsible for oversight of the installation, maintenance, stability, optimization, and integrity of surveillance system applications and supporting equipment and ensures compliance with state and federal surveillance requirements for the operation of gaming activities. The Manager, Surveillance Systems, is accountable for providing 24/7 technical support in response to enterprise needs and may be required to provide support beyond normal working hours.
The Serrano Language Revitalization Project (SLRP) consists of linguists, educators and specialists working within the San Manuel Education Department to lead language reawakening efforts with the tribal community. Our work is guided by the Tribe’s 2040 Vision, as we endeavor to create more speakers of Serrano within the community. Under the direction of the Manager, Language Programs, the Serrano Language Instructor works directly with the tribal community and education department staff. The Serrano Language Instructor takes on an intensive study of the Serrano language, engages in Fluency Transfer System (FTS) teacher training, delivers immersive lessons using the FTS curriculum, implements lessons in the after-school program, and provides individualized language classes to Tribal Citizens.
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Logistics, the Logistics Clerk is responsible for the receiving, storage, and distribution of goods needed for both Tribal and casino operations.
