What you will be doing..

Leading & developing the Lifestyle Brand operations within the company, responsible for our existing Lifestyle/Independent Hotels and new projects as assigned. Participating in the development pipeline for new Lifestyle/Independent hotels under construction or in planning; participate in development of pro forma's and the ultimate successful delivery of new projects according to pro forma's.

Provide the leadership expertise that ensures the effective and efficient operation of your portfolio of hotels owned / managed by Hospitality Ventures Management, LLC including but not limited to, the achievement of stated operational goals and profitability objectives and the quality and legal defensibility of services provided. Develop bench strength in operations leadership in HV by providing direct leadership, oversight, coaching and mentoring to the Area General Managers, and General Managers in order to drive the achievement of the same stated operational goals and profitability objectives.

Essential Functions..

  • Credibly represent HV during new development/franchise proposals and negotiations within the scope of the position; offer suggestions on brand/type best fit based on proposed market/location. Liaise with all key stakeholders - internal/external.
  • Actively contribute and make recommendations during creation of pro forma for new projects as assigned; ensure timely execution according to pro forma up to and post opening. 
  • Ensure that all HV properties have the right management in place to deliver against Key Performance Indicators; provide on-going evaluation of General Managers and department heads.
  • Accountable for the overall revenue, financial performance and guest satisfaction results across the HV portfolio.
  • Establish and lead management routines with Regional Director(s) of Operations, Area General Managers, and General Managers to provide leadership and support in the attainment of operational and profitability goals.
  • Conduct property visits for all direct reports at a minimum of three times per year; conduct property visits for critical care hotels on a bi-monthly basis; conduct property visits for other hotels one to two times per year. Prepare trip report and send to HV Executive Team.
  • Lead bi-weekly meetings / conference calls for hotels in critical care status per the most recent KPI report.
  • Lead weekly meetings / conference calls with direct report RDO and AGMs to review performance of their portfolios:
  • Key Performance Indicators review results and trends
  • Weekly Updates – labor trends, staffing issues, etc.
  • A/R / accounting issues

Lead bi-weekly meetings / conference calls with direct report GMs to review performance of their property:

  • Key Performance Indicators review results and trends
  • Weekly Updates – labor trends, staffing issues, etc.
  • A/R / accounting issues
  • Primary point of contact with hotel owners and investors for operational matters across all HV hotels; maintain collaborative working relationship with open lines of communication.
  • Lead the development of new operational policies, reports and procedures.
  • Lead the property level annual business planning and budgeting process.
  • Negotiate / approve all cross-company hotel related agreements and contracts.
  • Provide thought-leadership to properties in all operational disciplines.
  • Attend monthly P&L calls for critical care hotels and other hotels as needed.
  • Ensure hotels submit timely and accurate reports; support the A/R collection efforts for GM direct reports.
  • Prepare and deliver performance evaluations for direct reports annually at a minimum; sign off on performance evaluations for all General Managers and Department Heads.
  • Review all bonuses and raises for salaried staff across all properties; present to CEO for approval.
  • Assist with the recruitment and selection of all HV General Managers. Ensure that all new HV GMs receive required brand and HV training.
  • Support a proactive Human Resources function and ensure compliance with all state, federal and local employment and labor laws and regulations.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to GMs regarding the weekly sales reports as required.
  • Attend weekly Revenue Management for GM direct reports and other hotel meetings as requested/required.
  • Ensure all hotels are in compliance with all aspects of brand standards and expectations.
  • Assist HV President and HV Corporate Executive team with projects, initiatives and corporate directives as required.


In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

  • Professionally represent the base hotel and hotels within assigned area at industry events, trade shows and marketing meetings as needed/required.
  • Participate as a team player with other key executive members within assigned area.
  • Provide constructive feedback to hotel sales and marketing staff in base hotel and hotels within assigned area.
  • Be a leader and role model to all associates.

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

  • Proven experience participating in new development projects, providing insight and direction.
  • Proven experience with pre-development, pre-opening and opening of new hotels.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of sales skills.
  • Ability to assess/evaluate other associates’ performance in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Extensive knowledge of revenue management.
  • Ability to supervise, train and motivate multiple levels of managers.
  • Knowledge of hotels and competitive markets.
  • Participate in the development of short- and long-term financial and operational goals of the hotel.
  • Ensure that guest satisfaction is consistently obtained and maintained.
  • Possess advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within all hotel disciplines, including experiential knowledge for management of people and complex problems.
  • Ability to study, analyze and interpret complex activities and/or information in order to improve new practices or develop new approaches.
  • Ability to make decisions with only general policies and procedures available for guidance.
  • Ability to apply supervisory/management (soft) skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations, including, but not limited to the following statutes and their state and local analogues (where applicable): Title VII, ADEA, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, FLSA, ADA, OSHA, FMLA, and NLRA.
  • Ability to travel on a constant basis.

Physical Demands 

  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 5 hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day. This includes traveling to and from meetings and may include air travel. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
  • Most tasks are performed independently or in a team environment with the associate acting as a team leader. There is minimal direct supervision.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing in excess of 250 lbs. in an emergency.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, electric typewriter, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed.



Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Hotel/Restaurant or Business Administration, or equivalent education/experience required.


Fifteen years of related hotel experience.
