About This Job

The Regional Director of Operations (RDO) is responsible for sourcing, onboarding, training, managing, and retaining an average of fifty to seventy employees at 8-12 different properties. They coach and counsel employees, monitor employee productivity, market the property to increase revenue, inspect buildings, and ensure properties are providing a clean and safe environment for employees and guests. The RDO is responsible for diligent observations regarding service issues and for directing employees to execute solutions. RDOs are responsible for achieving profit and revenue objectives.

The RDO partners with the home office staff and supports the Senior Vice President of Operations. The RDO is responsible for achieving business objectives, consistently enforcing policy and procedures, and for developing high-performance teams who have the talent necessary to drive operational/property success.

Essential Functions

  • Property Management - Review Operation Overview Measures of each property daily, weekly and monthly to identify areas of opportunity for increased profits and decreased expenses. Ensure opening, closing, banking, collections, CLEAN & SAFE, local property marketing, loss prevention procedures, and other company policies are followed daily.
  • Profitability - Responsible for occupancy growth, revenue targets, Net Operating Profit, and EARNINGS BEFORE INTEREST, TAXES, AND AMORTIZATION at both the property level and Region. Reports results weekly to appropriate Chain of Command.
  • Sales & Marketing - Maintains an on-going sales & marketing strategy targeting top accounts and shifting market share to properties. . Conducts area market analysis/strategy to increase total market share and active accounts. Partners with the SVP, and works in Synergy with Revenue Manager and VP of sales to put strategies in place that will improve overall REVENUE PER AVAILABLE ROOM.
  • Property Inspections - Regularly visits properties to assess quality of operation and personnel, performs the RDO performs regular evaluations at properties in Region.
  • Budget Control - Manages P&L, payroll and other budgeted items; continuously identifies ways to control costs, and drive NET OPERATING INCOME.
  • Employee Relations – Responsible for all aspects of the employee life cycle. Helps recruits and hire trains, evaluates, and develop, property staff. Ensures all new hire paperwork is processed timely and in accordance with company policy. Promotes teamwork between all staff members and coordinates activities with upper management. Monitors staff performance and provides appropriate recognition and feedback; as necessary, documents performance issues and ensures all documentation is provided to corporate human resource office. Partners with Division SVP and Human Resources when employee termination is imminent.
  • Public Relations - Represents WoodSpring Hotels in civic capacities such as Chamber of Commerce, local non-profit boards, new property openings etc.
  • Compliance- Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local laws. Controls cash flow, balancing and audits while maintaining WoodSpring Hotel’s standards.

  • Post-secondary education and/or multiple years of specific leadership experience desired.
    Multiple site management in hospitality, service, and retail industry is preferred
  • Requires reliable transportation for travel between properties, with mileage paid for travel. May require occasional overnight travel.
  • Must have computer skills; the ability to access and accurately input information in to a computer system using software applications.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
