JOB SUMMARY Oversee waterpark maintenance operations, training and leadership necessary to achieve stated objectives for ride maintenance, ride checks, repairs, costs, guest service satisfaction, safety, cleanliness, and sanitation.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in a hotel/resort, waterpark, theme park, construction, or related field; or 4 years experience in management of large maintenance staff covering multiple shifts and facilities, or a 4-year college degree and at least 1 year of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and 2 or more years of related experience.
LICENSE/PERMITS REQUIRED: Valid driver's license required.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Certified pool operator certification preferred. Knowledge of leisure activities/commercial recreation in a "for profit" setting is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE OF COMPUTER HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE: Possess excellent basic math skills.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Have knowledge of air conditioning/heating systems, plumbing, building and all facility maintenance and management. Have knowledge of ride maintenance schedules, and repairs. Have knowledge of waterpark rides and daily operations for a Waterpark or leisure/vacation venue.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Possible heavy workloads; exerting up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or other wise move objects. Bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching involved. Must be able to work in warm/humid settings and hot/humid weather for indoor and outdoor waterpark environments. Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours). Be able to work weekends, nights, and holidays.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly. Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately. Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary. Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the issues raised by Associates, Supervisors, Department Heads, Senior Management, and guests. Must be able to adapt to a broad range of customer interactions, inquiries, and complaints. Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions. Ability to be a clear thinker, analyze and resolve problems exercising good judgment. Make independent decisions while maintaining strong ethical standards consistent with company policy, rules and the ability to maintain confidential information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS Understand completely all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, and training programs of Kalahari Resorts. Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service at all times. Ensure that all waterpark rides are inspected daily, weekly, and monthly. Fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations. Prepare all required paperwork, including forms, reports and schedules in an organized and timely manner such as licenses, state forms, and maintenance logs. Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and kept in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the ride manufacturer's preventative maintenance programs. Oversee and ensure that the Waterpark policies on associate performance appraisals are followed and completed in a timely basis. Schedule labor as required by anticipated business activity while ensuring that all positions are staffed when and as needed and labor cost objectives are met. Be knowledgeable of policies regarding personnel and administer prompt, fair and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules and procedures. Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, and county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the associates and guests. Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, and county and municipal regulations that pertain to rides safety, inspections, and yearly inspection with all authorities. Provide advice and suggestions to the Waterpark Manager as needed. Participate in the Daily Promise line-up meetings. Serve as focal point for audits and inspections by outside agencies. Ensure waterpark is maintained so that guests are not inconvenienced because of repairs. Maintain an accurate inventory of supplies for the waterpark and make purchases when necessary with Waterpark Manager approvals. Other duties as deemed appropriate by the Waterpark Manager.
