The Post Oak at Uptown Houston - Houston's first vertical mixed-use, master-planned project combining hotel, office, residential, retail and restaurant offerings all in one tower. The 680,000 square-foot tower will showcase over 250 luxury hotel rooms, more than 150,000 square feet of boutique office space and 20 residential apartment units, all with dramatic interior finishes and unobstructed views of the surrounding neighborhoods and Downtown. This 38-story tower will also feature an elegant and expansive ballroom, the largest in the Uptown area that is prominently located in the Galleria and Uptown area along West Loop South with convenient access from Loop 610. The Post Oak Hotel is seeking an experienced Garde Manger Chef to join our new team.  With the hotel scheduled to open in Fall 2017, the first months of employment will be preparing for the opening.  The Garde Manger Chef will oversee and ensure the overall success of daily guest satisfaction.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Banquet Chef with ensuring excellence in guest satisfaction through commitment to a "Do Whatever It Takes Attitude" and a hands-on, lead by example management style
  • Management of all back of house staff in a high volume kitchen, including ongoing training , development, and follow up
  • Achieve or exceed budgeted labor and other cost centers through proper planning and execution
  • Assist in overseeing weekly and monthly inventories, and ordering of food and supplies
  • Maintain sanitation procedures and organization of work area adhering to all OSHA regulations.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of Culinary Management experience in a full-service, structured dining establishment
  • Strong knowledge and attention to detail on back of the house operations including: staff supervision, inventory controls and food/labor cost, and product quality
  • Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills
  • Stable and progressive work history; Strong work ethic
  • Graduate of an accredited culinary program is a plus
