About This Job

The Breakfast Ambassador functions as a 'service ambassador' for the hotel, by greeting and engaging each guest who enters the dining area and ensuring that their breakfast experience is welcoming, positive and satisfying, and executed in accordance with the Homewood brand and standards.

The Breakfast Ambassador will set-up, prepare and re-stock the daily breakfast buffet while maintaining the highest standards of guest service, organization, cleanliness and safety.


Essential Functions

  • ‪‪‪Quickly learn daily menus, set-up, presentation, and preparation methods for hot and cold food items.‪‪


  • Perform opening activities each morning to ensure readiness and organization within assigned station.


  • ‪‪Continuously observe the breakfast area to ensure food items, accompaniments and supplies are sufficiently stocked and are available for guests at all times.‪‪


  • Organize and fulfill special orders as requested by guests whenever possible.


  • ‪‪Ensure that food is stored in proper containers and at proper storage and holding temperatures.‪


  • Maintain inventory of food, beverages and supplies to ensure proper pars for subsequent days.


  • Clear and clean seating area as needed.


  • Wash serving utensils and equipment after service and return to storage.


  • Greet, acknowledge and welcome each and every guest.


  • ‪‪Engage each guest as unique individuals; Anticipate and listen attentively to their needs and requests.‪‪


  • Serve as problem solver in instances of guest dissatisfaction; Resolve complaints, concerns or issues in a timely and helpful manner.


  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures.


  • ‪‪Report and follow up on any maintenance issues or safety hazards.


  • Work with Front Desk, Engineering, Housekeeping and other departments as a team to ensure a seamless guest experience.


  • Maintain work area, including counter tops, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration units in a clean and sanitary condition and in accordance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.


  • Maintain personal hygiene in compliance with applicable rules, regulations and laws.


  • ‪‪Support other departments, as needed and perform other duties as assigned.


  • Any other tasks/duties as requested by management.

Qualifications


The Company may consider equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience providing the knowledge, skills and abilities cited below. 


 

Education and Experience


  • High school education.

  • One or more years of related experience.

  • Familiarity with hospitality industry practices preferred

 

Skills and Abilities


  • Ability to understand and provide friendly guest service.

  • Ability to understand and comply with proper food preparation, cooking, handling and storage.

  • Ability to understand and comply with kitchen sanitation, safety and equipment usage.

  • Ability to compile facts/figures in a timely manner, identify and investigate issues, and resolve basic matters.

  • Ability to operate a phone and other office equipment.

  • Attention to details with good organizational and efficient time management skills.

  • Consistent professional attitude and behavior with effective listening and communication skills.

Working Conditions & Physical Effort


Physical work is a primary part of job. Work is normally performed in an interior hotel environment with equipment and machines. The work involves exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The exposure to hazards or physical risks requires following basic safety precautions and use of applicable protective equipment. Physical requirements include extended standing and walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling and lifting up to 50 lbs. While performing job duties, the associate is required to speak, listen and write. The job requires close vision with or without corrective lenses.
