Avista Hotels & Resorts is looking for the right dynamic, results-oriented Regional Director of Operations for its portfolio of hotels.  This position will be responsible for directly overseeing the operations of the Radisson Hotel Lake Buena Vista, Hyatt Place Lake Buena Vista, Fairfield Inn & Suites Orlando, Hyatt Place Daytona Beach Oceanfront, Residence Inn Daytona Beach Oceanfront, Hampton Inn Daytona Beach Oceanfront, Courtyard by Marriott in DeLand Downtown Historic Area and future projects.   

What you will be doing

A Regional Director of Operations is responsible for the effective operational management of the hotel so the Department Heads achieve and exceed their forecasted revenue goals and Guest satisfaction targets. Working in close partnership with other department heads, the Regional Director of Operations is accountable for directing and coordinating the resources, tasks, requirements, systems and processes related to the hotel's day-to-day operations, and for creating an energized and positive work environment that results in the delivery of exceptional guest service, and for identifying opportunities for further efficiencies by leveraging and scaling the portfolio. The Regional Director of Operations will provide leadership for all hotels in the company’s portfolio, motivating managers and Associates to carry out the mission.  As an Executive Committee member, you will report directly to the CEO and Sr. Vice President and will provide strategic leadership while working with your colleagues to lead the company to success with outstanding financial performance, associates, guests and investors.


  • A degree or diploma in Hotel Management or equivalent
  • Strong commercial acumen with extensive experience in Food & Beverage and Rooms Management 
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets, revenue proposals and forecasting results, reviewing P&Ls
  • In-depth knowledge of the hotel/ leisure/ service sector
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate the team to achieve high level of performance and exceed targets
  • Accountable and resilient
  • Ability to work under pressure 
  • Knowledge of the hotel property management systems

  • Previous minimum experience of 3-5 years in the same role is required for select services hotels


  • Work in conjunction with the General Manager to actively manage key property issues (including capital projects; customer service; reimaging) 
  • Assist in the development of meaningful, achievable hotel budgets and other short and long term hotel strategic goals 
  • Plan, direct and coordinate the service delivery of all operational departments in order to meet and exceed guest expectations
  • Comply and exceed hotel and company Service Standards
  • Ensure that costs are controlled throughout the operational departments and results are analyzed regularly to highlight problem areas and take appropriate action 
  • Seek and respond to Guest feedback in order to achieve positive outcomes and high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Understand the strengths and weaknesses of the competition and finds opportunities for the hotel to exceed the competition
  • Schedule employees under direct supervision and monitors scheduling of indirect subordinates to ensure proper staffing levels
  • Maintain a good understanding of hotel's sales goals
  • Hold regular briefings and communication meetings with the Department Heads
  • Hire, train and provide career development for all departments and provide a career track for star talent to move up,  conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback for employees
  • Serve as a member of the Executive Committee, Manager on Duty, Safety Committee, and works with other management personnel to establish and implement hotel service standards to achieve maximum
  • Review, analyze and respond to performance metrics/data received from various reporting systems
  • Ensure all brand standards are in place and help implement any new or updated brand initiatives as needed
  • Track QA/Brand visits/inspections and achieves outstanding results
  • Proactively maintains positive relationships with major Brand contacts
  • Travel between hotels and corporate office required
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook
