About This Job

We are looking for the right person to be our kitchen manager. Although we are known as a bakery, our savory team is responsible for over $1M. sales a year. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to grow with a company and expand their repertoire. We are looking for someone who has a least one year in a supervisory role.

Requirements are:

  • ability to supervise 5+ employees
  • cost control; inventory control
  • recipe maintenance and developement
  • strict adherence to food safety standards
  • price analysis for purchasing
  • great attitude and willingness to be creative

Weekends are a must (this is the industry).  Since we are a retail bakery, the hours are early:  6am-4pm.  This is a salaried position, so we do expect that you work more than 8 hrs. a day.  You may have to work more than five days (but this is not the standard.  I like our managers to be fresh and vibrant).   We really believe that our staff is directly responsible for our success so we try our best to create a great working environment.

If you are looking for a fresh start, come south and see what's happening in DC.  It seems everyone else in Philly is doing it.

Compensation is based on experience and growth potential. We offer full medical insurance and paid vacations and sick days. Quarterly bonus potential is huge for the right candidate. Again, this is a great opportunity for someone who wants a chance.

Compensation: $40+, based on experience

Who are we?

We are Bread Furst bakery, home of the James Beard Award recipient for Best Baker, Mark Furstenberg. We are a neighborhood bakery and retail store that honors the people who have supported us for over three years. Our retail bakery is always vibrant. We are very proud of the relationship that we have with our guests and that makes us extra picky when it comes to our staff.

Bread Furst is considered a neighborhood anchor, where people visit almost daily to meet friends, colleagues, local celebrities, etc. We are proud of what we have been able to accomplish in three years, but know that we need to continue to grow and better anticipate our guests needs. We are always thinking of more effective ways to serve our community.

This is a great company for people who enjoy interacting with others, who strive to learn, and who enjoy the food industry. Anyone can clock in, but we hope that you want to improve the place when you do.
