About This Job

Our AAA Five Diamond Resort is seeking a Director of Tennis to join our team at the award winning Racquet Club! Ponte Vedra Beach Resorts is looking for a seasoned Tennis Professional to oversee Racquet Club operations, ensure both member and resort guest satisfaction as well as manage front desk staff, teaching professionals, facilities and tennis shop.


Candidate should have a college degree or equivalent, some business, fitness, and communication skills preferable.  Must be able to read, write, speak, follow and give written and/or oral directions in English.


Three years experience as Tennis Director or five years as the Head Professional.  Must be a National caliber ranked tennis player still active at local, state, and national level. Must be a USPTA or USPTR certified at the highest level.


Working knowledge of all types of tennis programming, running local, state, and national tennis tournaments.  Be able to set up front desk, teaching pro, and maintenance working schedules.  Able to supply, sell, and market all aspects of tennis shop, understand and implement water schedules, tennis camps, drills, and all manner of social events. Professional skills in dealing with members required.


Directs all aspects of the Racquet Club maintaining exceptional member relations, the highest quality standards, maximizing sales and profits.


Must be physically fit, be able to play tennis at a very high standard and teach tennis in periods up to 8 hours a day.  Be able to stand in various weather conditions.


  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Communicate with members and guests frequently to insure their total satisfaction, following up on any observations, suggestions, or complaints.
  • Know and insure that current membership general rules and policies are implemented and complied with in the course of Racquet Club operations.
  • Employ, train, supervises, recommend salary levels and terminate employees of the Racquet Club including pros, maintenance, and front desk.
  • Staff performance evaluations done on a timely and consistent basis.
  • Circulate constantly throughout the entire Racquet Club, listening, coaching, and looking for any areas of concern, to increase the quality of service.
  • Order and receive supplies and products, maintaining inventory and budgets.
  • Count monthly inventories, using the information to impact the P&L daily.
  • Hold weekly staff meetings, keeping all personnel informed of all policies concerning member and personnel relations.
  • Oversee daily scheduling of staff, working toward reducing labor costs.
  • Maintain high sanitation and safety standards, by training and working daily with staff.
  • Execute the general responsibilities common to all Managers in minimizing the cost of operations and safeguarding the property and reputation of Ponte Vedra Inn & Club.
