About This Job

Primary Objective of Position

To contribute to customer satisfaction by assisting each customer according to the standards of
Graves Hospitality

Major Areas of Accountability

  • Welcomes all hotel guests upon arrival; exhibits courteous manners according to the standards of the hotel
    • Answers all customer questions
    • Provide prompt service or assistance for customers
  • Parks and retrieves customer vehicles per hotel standard
    • Ensures that all vehicles are checked and recorded for damage before entering the vehicle
    • Able to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles
    • Safely parks and retrieves customer vehicles
    • Properly marks all valet tickets with the proper location of the vehicle
    • Maintains security of vehicle keys 
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of all hotel facilities and services offered
    • Promotes hotel restaurant and bar
    • Answers all questions from guests pertaining to local restaurants, entertainment, shopping, sporting events and other attractions in the area.
  • Ability to cross-train for all front office operations including Service operator, front desk, door person, bellman, valet cashier, concierge, and all other positions in the front office
    • Able to work as a doorperson during the absence of the doorperson
    • Able to work as a bellperson during the absence of the bellperson
    • Able to work as the concierge during the absence of the concierge
    • Able to check guests into the hotel’s Fosse system
    • Capable of operating the hotel PBX system
  • Assists hotel guests with check out from the hotel
    • Retrieves guest vehicle in a timely manner
  • Performs messenger duty for the hotel and hotel guests when needed 
    • Delivers messages, packages, mail, flowers, etc. to guest rooms
    • Collects and returns outgoing customer laundry and dry cleaning
    • Delivers morning newspapers
    • Perform shoe shine service for hotel guests when requested
  • Maintains a clean hotel lobby and entrance by performing light cleaning duties when needed
    • Keeps drive clean of debris
  • Maintain security and privacy of guests
    • Ensure that personal information is not disclosed
    • Ensure that all room numbers are not disclosed to the public
  • Contributes to the overall security of the hotel by reporting any unusual occurrences to security
    • Reports entrance of unauthorized, undesirable, or suspicious people to security
    • Turns lost articles into “Lost and Found”
  • Meets and exceeds customer and team member expectations by providing excellent service and teamwork
    • Provides value added service to customers by doing whatever reasonable and possible to meet or exceed guest  expectations
    • Communicates effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisors
    • Demonstrates teamwork by cooperating and assisting co-workers as needed
    • Handles difficult situations effectively
    • Meets Graves Hospitality service standards
    • Performs other duties as required to provide excellent service and teamwork
  • Adheres to hotel policies and procedures
    • Attends work on time as scheduled
    • Follows hotel grooming and dress standards
    • Minimizes safety hazards by following all safety rules and procedures
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate
  • At all times projects a favorable image of Graves Hospitality to the public

Essential Functions

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with customers and staff.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional with all guests.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to drive an automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
