About This Job

This position will have overall responsibility for directing the Sales & Marketing efforts of a new build 141 room Moxy Hotel in downtown Minneapolis. The hotel is scheduled to open in June, 2019.

We’re looking for a Director of Sales and Marketing to join our Crew. We know you’re not into stiff uniforms, so we don't have any. What do you bring to the party? You have great style, are quick on your feet and know what’s happening around town. You have an open and outgoing personality and enjoy chatting with guests (probably people you'd want to hang out with anyway). You love wearing multiple hats in your job and can shift gears at the drop of one of those hats.

 So, what do you need to know to have the best shot at this great opportunity? Previous Director of Sales and Marketing experience or a strong #2 looking to make the big jump; experience in the BT market preferred.

Duties & Functions

  • Provides professional, advisory and executive support to the General Manager in meeting strategic goals. Possesses a solid understanding of the market, and uses this to evaluate business from local accounts and groups so as to provide input to future rate setting and negotiation.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedure for the department and hotel.
  • Plans and develops annual budget, sales and marketing strategies and promotion plans with General Manager based on hotel and corporate guidelines.
  • Establishes pricing strategies and sales targets for the hotel.
  • Reviews and updates pricing strategy on all distribution channels to maximize revenue for the hotel.
  • Recommends solutions and strategies to further improve sales performance for the hotel.
  • Monitor monthly outlook/forecast for rooms and catering.
  • Conduct Sales visit together with Sales Team.
  • Represents and promotes the hotel to all sectors in the community.
  • Manages departmental expenses and budget.
  • Ensures efficient utilization of departmental resources.
  • Ensures files, correspondence and other relevant business documentation are maintained.
  • Ensures the development, update and maintenance of promotional materials.
  • All other tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Standards

  • 3-5 years lifestyle hotel experience in Sales. Two years at Director Level preferred.
  • Hotel opening experience preferred.
  • BT Market experience preferred.
  • Bachelor degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
  • Results oriented team leader with a track record of living the brand’s values.
  • Excellent planning, organization, presentation, time management and communication skills required.
  • Analytical skills, as well as problem recognition and resolution skills.
  • Technologically savvy, expert in Microsoft Excel, possessing the aptitude and desire to learn new technology.
  • Experience using multiple social media platforms to drive results.
