JOB DESCRIPTION – SALES MANAGER

 

REPORTS TO:
Director of Sales & Marketing
REQUIRED TRAINING/
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Must have proven sales experience preferably in the hospitality industry. Must have leadership qualities. College Degree (BS/BA) or equivalent experience required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
· Must be able to organize time effectively
· Must be able to work with minimal supervision
· Must have a valid driver’s license and access to an automobile for outside sales calls
· Excellent hearing
· Command of the English language, both written and verbal
· Able to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods of time/frequently in order to interact with clients and staff both inside and outside of hotel
· Must be able to work flexible and extended hours
· Must be goal oriented and self-motivated

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  1. Maintains a professional appearance and poise commensurate with the image of the hotel.
  2. Summarizes all of the features of the hotel, and states all specific data of the hotel accurately.
  3. Develops profitable sales through outside sales calls, and maintains active sales contact on all assigned accounts and within assigned market segments.
  4. Maintains up to date tracer files for follow up.
  5. Develops proposals, qualifies customers, and prepares contracts.
  6. Services current clients and assertively rebooks them.
  7. Reports product quality feedback to the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  8. Prepares and maintains the files and records required by hotel policy and Hostmark Hospitality Group (HHG).
  9. Researches competition and assesses general market conditions for the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  10. Exercises hotel policies and procedures in accordance with the duties above.
  11. Performs all other related duties/projects/reports as assigned.
    Additional Responsibilities.
     LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos, ability to write simple correspondence, ability to effectively present one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other staff members of the organization and hospitality community.
    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
    REASONING ABILITY: ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished written, oral, or diagram form, ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and ability to address customer personalities in various business situations.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a staff member to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, to handle and feel objects, tools controls and type; talk with and hear guests. The staff member is occasionally required to stand and walk. The staff member must occasionally lift and/or move up to ____ pounds. The specific vision abilities required are close vision.
    WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a staff member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The staff member will work in a high traffic/high volume business environment and will be required to spend a majority of their time at their desk.
