About This Job

We are currently looking for a Sales Manager for our nationally franchised & newly renovated hotel. The Sales Manager's primary responsibility entails development of the hotel's marketing and sales plan based on the hotel's position and strengths within each market segment. Establishing a list of top accounts and top target accounts. Actively selling room nights through outside sales calls, telemarketing, site visits, internet and the competition's accounts. Developing and maintaining loyalty and relationships with hotels key existing accounts. Using resources to surface, call on, qualify and track potential business. Meet or exceed budgeted Occupancy, ADR and REVPAR. Forecasting occupancy fluctuations and directing selling activities to maximize revenues. Salary will be based on experience. Incentives and bonuses will be based on sales and performance. Potential for future growth and career development.


  • Minimum of two years hotel experience in hotel sales.

  • Experienced with utilizing the resources available of a large franchise hotel brand

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Aggressive, self- motivated, resourceful team player

  • Must have extensive knowledge of guest relations and service standards.

  • Ability to analyze client needs and negotiate pricing.

  • Experienced with RFP’s, contracts, revenue management, negotiating, forecasting, marketing plans, and meeting room sales

  • Experienced with star report and understands the market and comp set analysis in achieving the hotels goals

  • Above average proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Knowledge of Cloud PM and Visual Matrix preferred.

  • Ability to work under time pressures and extensive hours.

  • Good organizational skills and detail oriented.

  • Energetic, self-starter with proven experience in hotel sales. 

  • Flexibility to work a variety of schedules and hours as business dictates

  • Valid  Driver's License and carry vehicle Insurance

  • Ability to multi task, problem solve and work under pressure

  • Ability to work side by side with the catering manager with groups involving banquets and/or corporate accounts utilizing meeting rooms.

  • Position is responsible for achieving 100% of the sales revenue goals through personal and team efforts.

  • Establishes client base through direct outside and inside sales in order to secure business for the hotel.

  • Responsible soliciting new accounts new corporate accounts, group business and maintaining relationships with existing accounts.Solicits account leads from group meeting/event planners and decision makers for cultivation and development.

  • Develops sales plan and strategy in order to meet or exceed room night and other revenue goals.

  • Manages and negotiates account details and contracts so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented.

  • Communicates and plans for operations departments’ participation in servicing accounts.

  • Formulates program and submits formal sales proposals to prospective customers.

  • Attends networking events and calls on customers by telephone to solicit business.

  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.

  • Implement a daily, weekly, and monthly checklist. Ensure follow up to attain maximum quality and efficiency.

  • Communicate any information of past, present and upcoming events.

  • Ensures proper billing, accordingly to policy, to guest folios and master accounts.

  • Incorporates marketing initiatives to support group sales strategies and activities

  • Knowledgeable of the hotels competitive set and recommends sales/pricing strategies, service and product improvements to stay competitive

  • Consistently reviews shifts in the market mix with General Manager and able to make deployment and pricing recommendations

  • Works with  Franchise Sales Resources specific account needs to impact revenues for the hotels

  • Responsible for appropriate identification of key group markets and supporting deployment and travel schedule strategies

  • Maintains a thorough understanding and ability to report on group pace and future group need areas

  • Internally communicate client requirements, thereby insuring all information is accurate between client and hotel staff

  • Conduct competitive analysis and maintain competitor files in order to be able to compete successfully

  • Maintain good rapport with local civic groups and companies

  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.


Possess knowledge of hospitality, business and basic accounting principles and practices. Effective listening, verbal, written, negotiation and closing skills. Ability to assess customer needs, understand market dynamics and prepare presentations/proposals uniquely for individual customers. Ability to meet/exceed expectations for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, proposals and closes. 

Strong professionalism, selling skills and work habits. Ability to remain positive, resourceful and improvise while working in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure. Organizational skills that result in accurate, timely and thorough work. Ability to compile facts and figures, analyze information and arrive at logical conclusions and sound business decisions.

Knowledge of and ability to operate a computer, calculator, phone and other office equipment.
