Our Global HR team partners with our business leaders to attract, retain, and develop Hilton's most important asset, our Team Members.

What will I be doing?

As the Senior Manager, Leadership Development & Careers North America West, you will support the development, communication and delivery of the North America Talent Management & Leadership Development strategy for Operations. In this role, you will oversee the talent management and leadership development activities for owned/managed hotels within the Western US. You will collaborate and partner with primary business stakeholders including General Managers, Area Vice Presidents (AVPs) and Regional Human Resources Leaders, to create and execute against a talent and leadership development strategy that will best support the goals and objectives established.

More specifically, you will:
  • Systematically coordinate the Talent Review process while utilizing tools to lead periodic data evaluation
  • Build positive partnerships with Regional Human Resources Leaders and AVPs Operations to provide updates and review the talent/leadership development needs of key hotels
  • Facilitate quarterly succession planning and career development roadmaps in partnership with key business partners
  • Play an active role in the identification and validation of talent/leadership requirements and collaborate with regional HR leads to support hotel openings and acquisitions for the region
  • Build annual leadership development calendars and establish communications to effectively inform owned/managed hotels
  • Ensure appropriate metrics are in place for all Talent Management & Leadership Development activities
  • Build relationships and engage with HR partners to support hotels in meeting leadership requirements and talent development activities
  • Request the creation or purchase of specific content from Learning Team in order to fill a specific need or meet the request of key partners
  • Track the progress of hotels against all business and talent goals throughout the year and adjust strategy accordingly
  • Coordinate leadership development activities, including talent reviews and development programs
  • Create and share best methods across the region and across the wider Talent & Leadership development organization
  • Ensure the alignment of the hotels leadership and talent activities to the organization’s strategic objectives
  • Guarantee that new initiatives are integrated into existing programs effectively and presented as part of a cohesive strategy
  • Manage the annual Succession Planning process at the Hotel Level
  • Facilitate workshops in support of our Leadership Development Framework
  • Provide direction to hotel leadership teams on the best use of resources and optimize usage of in-house curriculum
  • Manage all department resources within the prescribed annual budget
  • Conduct quarterly survey of business partners to ensure strategic needs are being met
  • Track important regional metrics (including Leadership Index, GTMES, etc.) and adjust strategy accordingly
  • Direct collaborative efforts of other resources throughout the Hilton organization, including internal resources and external resources and other constituent groups as appropriate with aim of furthering Company goals


What are we looking for?

The success in this role will demonstrate itself through the following attributes and skills:

  • Excellent presentation, public speaking and written communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of business mathematics, including calculating percentage changes and averages/weighted averages; working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and manipulating basic spreadsheets to analyze departmental financial data information to make strategic and tactical decisions.
  • Ability to lead change, successfully resolve conflicts and ensure positive collaboration within teams while maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct and integrity.
  • Absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative to identify, prioritize and implement all elements required for the team to fulfill responsibilities in keeping with core strategic goals.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, including effectively addressing any issue in collaboration with others as appropriate and proactively identifying and preventing potential problems.
  • Advocate and implement professional development for self and others, including capability to work with peers and other resources to provide development and mentoring opportunities and adherence to organization’s standards for performance feedback.
  • Assimilate new concepts and practices into position and the department and provide effective solutions for stakeholders for on-the-job training, career development and leadership development.
  • Budget development and management skills, including the ability to track expenses against commitments, set priorities for funding, and develop annual budgets.

To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:

  • Five (5) years of experience within Leadership Development in a global corporate environment
  • Five (5) years of experience within Talent Management in a global corporate environment
  • Three (3) years of experience within hotel properties, hotel operations, corporate hotel companies or restaurants
  • Ability to travel up to 35% of the time

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • BA/BS Bachelor's Degree
  • Five (5+) years of experience within HR Operations or Talent Management within a global corporation
  • Certified coach
  • CPLP certification
