About This Job

BASIC PURPOSE:

Staff works on hotel books to coordinate and review all accounting functions and financial statements to ensure accuracy and meet all deadlines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare and record journal entries for assigned hotels to meet the closing deadline and deliver accurate hotel financials.
  • Bank Reconciliation for assigned hotels.  Research and follow up on outstanding issues with hotel to have satisfaction resolution. 
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliation for assigned hotels.  Research and follow up on outstanding issues with hotel to have satisfaction resolution. 
  • To assist and train hotel level staff on various aspects of hotel accounting, i.e. eDaily, AP coding, general ledger review, etc.  This requires working closely with the Regional Managers to ensure proper trainings at hotel level were provided. 
  • Assist VP of Accounting on reviewing the accuracy of bank reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation of other hotels.
  • Assist on various hotel audits and owner/Regional Manager questions.

Knowledge and Skills:

Education:  Minimum of 18 hours of accounting and a four year degree, preferred in accounting/finance/hospitality area.

Experience: 3+ years in general accounting, preferred experience in journal entries preparation, month end general ledger reviewing, account analysis, bank reconciliation, and good understanding of balance sheet.  Intermediate-Advanced Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word required. 

Prefer experience in multiple set of books.

Skills and Abilities:  Good customer service, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, detail-oriented, strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
