About the Boss

Brent C Jackson is President of Jackson Hotel Management. Brent joined the company with nearly 20 years of management experience in the hospitality industry. Brent is be responsible for managing new and existing business relationships while using his hotel operations background to improve guest satisfaction and overall hotel performance. Brent is a third-generation hotelier and an accomplished hotel operator as demonstrated when he earned the 2013 IHG® Best of the Best Holiday Inn General Manager of the Year award for providing outstanding service to the property, to the guests and to the community.

Brent is a graduate of James Madison University, earning a BBA in Hospitality & Tourism Management from the JMU College of Business. During his time at JMU, Brent earned the 2002 'David Grimm Award' for top overall outstanding student in the Hospitality Program.

Jackson Hotel Management is a comprehensive hospitality management company that traces its roots to 1987. The company is headquartered in Harrisonburg, VA with satellite offices in Stephens City, VA and Ocean City, MD. The management company currently operates the 102 room Comfort Inn Harrisonburg – University in Harrisonburg, VA; the 58 room Comfort Inn & Suites Orange – Montpelier in Orange, VA; the 122 room Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ocean City in Ocean City, MD and the 201 room Comfort Inn Gold Coast in Ocean City, MD. Jackson Hotel Management will be opening one of the first Clarion Pointe branded hotels in the world in late 2019 in Harrisonburg, VA. The Clarion Pointe is a newly launched brand by Choice Hotels International. Jackson Hotel Management was founded by current CEO Thomas M. Jackson. Thomas has been recognized by James Madison University with the “Dolly Madison Excellence in Hospitality Award”; by the American Hotel & Lodging Association with the “State Leadership Award”; by the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce as “Entrepreneur of the Year”; and by Sheraton Hotels with an “Award of Excellence” and “General Manager of the Year”. 

Scope of this Position

  • Immediate opening for an experienced Hotel General Manager at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Orange, VA.
  • Requires prior hotel management experience or accredited hotel operations management training.
  • Prior Choice Hotels / Comfort Inn experience an asset.
  • 58 room hotel with some meeting space


  • Must be a citizen of this country or possess a valid work permit.
  • We are seeking an experienced General Manager who exhibits the following traits:
  • Consistently exceeds guest expectations.
  • Ability to build revenue
  • Ability to control labor costs.
  • Strong budgetary, projection and cost control skills.
  • Solid scheduling experience.
  • Ability to create a courteous, friendly, professional work environment.
  • Ability to manage progress and change.
  • Able to provide leadership, communicate goals and objectives, and inspire the hotel staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team building skills and an ability to lead by example.
  • Experience in interviewing and selecting great staff.
  • Ability to instill a guest service attitude in all staff members.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong budgetary, forecasting, projection and cost control skills.
  • BA, BS or AA Degree from a two year or four year College or University, with a degree in Hospitality preferred.


Highly competitive, plus bonus! 


Paid Vacation
  • Vacation: After one year, ten days paid vacation and after four years, fifteen days of paid vacation.
  • Insurance: Health insurance, dental insurance, prescription coverage, life insurance, long-term disability insurance and short-term disability insurance.
  • Holidays: Six paid holidays per year.
  • Sick Leave: After one year, five paid sick days per year.
  • 401-K: Employee funded 401-K, eligible after six months of employment.
  • Relocation: As agreed upon at time of hiring.
  • Bonus: We do offer a bonus program to all General Managers, the bonus is determined based on established criteria.  
  • Use of hotel travel benefits. 

Compensation: $34,000-$40,000
