About This Job

BASIC PURPOSE:Support the growth initiatives of Interstate Hotels & Resorts by contributing to all aspects of hotel underwriting, including but not limited to: conducting market research and feasibility analysis, creating pro forma hotel projections, and performing return analyses, as well as creating presentations (including internal and external investment memoranda), and ad hoc reports and analysis. The individual will perform feasibility analysis, create pro forma projections, generate return analyses and conduct market research.  The individual will participate in due diligence efforts to determine financial viability, profitability and appropriateness of transaction structures.  The individual will effectively manage complicated projects, collaborate with other departments and operate quickly and effectively.


  • Create pro forma projections for new business opportunities.  This function requires a general understanding of hotel operating metrics (ADR, OCC and RevPAR) and a basic knowledge of the profit and loss statement (Revenues, Expenses, GOP, NOI).
  • Generate return analyses for potential investments (acquisitions, joint ventures, mezzanine loans, guarantees, key money, etc.).  This function requires a basic understanding of financial principles (time value of money, risk adjusted discount rates) and a working knowledge of key metrics (IRR, NPV).
  • Conduct market research to support key assumptions.  This function requires the analysis of historical and competitive market data, the assessment of room supply and demand generators, and the consideration of comparable transactions in the marketplace.
  • Analyze performance of all major transactions and explain significant variances to underwriting.
  • Support due diligence process for all transactions (acquisitions and dispositions).
  • Complete special projects and ad hoc analyses for various departments Assist in the preparation of Investment Committee Memorandums to the Investment Committee, Executive Committee, Board and external clients.
  • Assist the development team in working with capital sources.

Knowledge and Skills:


Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or accounting/finance or related or related required, Master degree or higher education preferred. 


+2 years industry experience, preferably in development, consulting or finance
