Safely transport guest to and from designated areas, greet and welcome guests, provide luggage-handling service, as well as, provide information regarding the surrounding area. Assist guests in loading and unloading of luggage to and from their vehicles. Anticipate the hotel guests’ need for service to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction.
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Ability to drive a shuttle bus safely.
Ability to grasp, lift, and carry or otherwise move goods weighing at least 100 lbs. (luggage).
Ability to react quickly/decisively to emergencies and requests.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to gain and retain a thorough knowledge of the Sheraton Herndon Dulles airport in regards to room location, outlets, and hours of operations.
Ability to communicate telephonically, over a hand held radio, and face-to-face clearly.
Possess considerable ability to listen effectively.
Visual ability to see potential hazards, read room numbers and maps, etc.
Ability to read, writes, and comprehends English.
Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and kneeling.
Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and to effectively deal with the internal and external guests, some of whom require patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information, and solve guest concerns.
Ability to use finger/hand movements that require fine motor skills. Finger and hand dexterity to manipulate switches, writing instruments, a computer keyboard, etc.
Ability to work in conditions which may be occasionally hot and noisy.
Possess extensive knowledge of Northern Virginia, D.C. and Maryland in order to give directions, make recommendations and suggestions to guests.
