Job overview

As a Barback, you will fill a supportive role in your hotel’s financial goals of the daily operation of the hotel bar/s and/or other areas of the Food and Beverage departments. You will assist the bartenders by ensuring the bar area remains clean, safe, and stocked with the necessary supplies and equipment. Ensures the bartender is able to service the customers to their satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will: 

  • Preferably have a minimum of one year of food and beverage service experience and a general knowledge of bartending. 
  • Be incredibly friendly, customer centric, love to smile and radiate a positive and accommodating attitude while interacting with customers.
  • Maintains clean and organized work areas in the bar to maximize efficiency; sets up the bar and back-bar according to established procedures.
  • Stocks the bar with liquor, beer, non-alcoholic drinks, ice, snacks, cups, napkins, etc. so that all needed food/beverages are always in bar area.
  • Ensures that used cups, utensils, and other equipment are well-cleaned after use and re-shelved in a timely and organized manner. 
  • Monitors guest behavior and guest alcohol consumption to determine when alcohol service to the guest should cease; notifies management of incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired condition of customers.
  • Ensures snack bowls are full and promptly refills bowls as necessary.  
  • Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Performs pre and post-shift side work including stock service station, makes coffee, etc.
  • Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  • Ability to obtain an Oneida Gaming License.
