Job Description

Position Summary: Bar Backs are responsible for supporting the bartenders in set up and break down of assigned department. Handles all requests in a timely and accurate manner and responsible for adhering to all cleaning and sanitation guidelines.

  1. Retrieve orders from storeroom, visually check stock and reconcile with written requisitions to ensure order accuracy and re-check stock upon delivery
  2. Able to adhere to a fast paced, changing environment
  3. Consistently interacts with guests in a courteous, polite manner.
  4. Ensures timing and flow of service by providing needed items for bartenders.
  5. Completes all assigned side work.
  6. Basic knowledge of wine, liquor, and beer.
  7. Adheres to state liquor laws.
  8. Maintains proper and adequate set-up of bar on a daily basis.
  9. Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily. Insure rotation and product quality.
  10. Maintain the bar and lounge areas in a neat and orderly condition at all times.
  11. Operate glass washers as necessary, placing clean glassware in its place, checking often to ensure sufficient supply is always available.
  12. Replenish ice as needed and requested.
  13. Sweep and mop behind the bar areas as needed.
  14. Works with bartender to ensure the bar area is stocked well with paper products, straws, stirrers, etc.
  15. All other tasks as assigned by your manager or Hotel Management.

Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED

Experience: Previous experience a plus however willing to train the right individual.

  • Current certification in a nationally recognized program concerning service of alcohol or able to be obtained upon being hired.
  • Certification from the state Professional Food Handler Program or able to obtain
  • Previous beverage inventory experience preferred.
  • Able to multi-task and handle high volume service demands.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to be on one's feet for a prolonged period of time.
  • Proficiency in reading and communication in English.
  • At least 21 years of age.
