About This Job

Position Summary

The Company operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting and ending times, and hours worked in a week.

The Housekeeping Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the productivity of the daily housekeeping operation. Responsible for distributing workload to housekeeping staff, and assisting management with ensuring flow of the day. Coordinates with other departments such as front desk and engineering to ensure guest requests are fulfilled in a timely manner. Promptly reports emergencies, accidents, injuries, missing articles, damage, engineering items and safety hazards to management. Reports any deviations from policies, procedures, brand standards and regulations to management.

Complies with all guest service basics such as uniforms, name tags and proper guest greeting. Knowledgeable on hotel facilities and services to assist guests as appropriate. Ensures all communication containing Company, hotel, brand and guest information is consistent with privacy policies, practices and regulations. Impresses guests with quality and timely service in a pleasant and friendly manner.

  • Opening and closing the day in Lightspeed PMS system

  • Administering daily room assignments, inspections, evening service assignments, and other special tasks.

  • Communicate with Front Office and Engineering departments in overall operation

  • Read and respond to emails on behalf of the department.

  • Assist in completing linen inventory monthly.

  • Talking and hearing continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.

  • Handle telephone calls and ensure all messages, information and requests are logged, communicated promptly and accurately to provide prompt delivery of excellent service for both internal and external guests.

  • Maintain complete knowledge of all housekeeping services, outlets, hotel areas/features and hours of operation.

  • Assist other housekeeping employees in maintaining clean and organized work and public areas.

  • Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products to adhere to adhere to health standards.

  • Check with manager/supervisor before leaving work area for any reason.

  • On time and at work when scheduled, and in proper uniform.

  • Attend department meetings as scheduled.

  • Respond to guest requests, concerns and problems to ensure guest satisfaction.

  • Report any incidents of guest dissatisfaction or other matters of significance to manager so that corrective measures may be taken.

  • Any other tasks/duties as requested by management.

Qualifications

The Company may consider equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience providing the knowledge, skills and abilities cited below.

Education and Experience


  • High school education required. Additional education in hospitality or business management a plus.

  • One to two years of related experience.

  • Familiarity with hospitality industry practices preferred.

  • Must be able to read and write in local language. Bilingual applicants a plus.

Skills and Abilities


  • Must possess basic computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office. Experience with hotel property management system a plus.

  • Must have the ability to multitask

  • Ability to effectively and efficiently supervise staff, daily operations and resolve operational problems in compliance with policies and procedures.

  • Ability to appropriately interview, hire, schedule, motivate, train, monitor and address staff performance.

  • Knowledge of housekeeping principles and practices along with proper use of cleaning equipment and supplies.

  • Ability to compile facts/figures in a timely manner; identify, investigate and resolve matters.

  • Ability to follow an appropriate course of action based on policies and procedures.

  • Ability to operate a computer, phone and other office equipment.

  • Attention to details with good organizational and efficient time management skills.

  • Display consistent professional leadership with effective listening and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while simultaneously handling competing and changing priorities.

  • Ability to satisfy the legal requirements for employment within the jurisdiction.

Working Conditions & Physical Effort

While primary job functions revolve around office work, physical duties are a regular part of the job. Must be able to complete physical job duties, including grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, and repetitive motions, bending, listening, and speaking. While performing job duties, the associate speaks, listens, completes documents, processes requests and operates office equipment such as a telephone, calculator, computer, copier and fax. Physical requirements include extended periods of standing and/or walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The job requires close vision with or without corrective lenses. This position may be required to operate a motor vehicle.
