POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Cashier is responsible for the accurate completion of daily deposits, completions of revenue reports for the unit, and the training/supervision/scheduling of cashiers.  The Lead Cashier has working knowledge of unit functions (front of the house set up, front of the house monitoring, and basic food preparation) so that they can effectively assist in all aspects of unit management.  This employee must be knowledgeable about Colorado Liquor Code and will also be responsible for the clerical functions of the unit.  The Lead Cashier will follow all Winter Park policies and procedures, all applicable laws (federal, state, and local), and all health and sanitation codes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Responsible for determining and handling of monetary needs of the unit
  • Maintain unit banks of up to $15,000… insuring that an adequate mix of change and bills are on hand to accommodate daily business
  • Prepare daily receipts (sometimes exceeding $25,000) for deposit
  • Responsible for on-the-job training of cashiers
  • Provide excellent guest service
  • Keep work area clean throughout the day (this includes all food service counters, floors, walls, coolers, storerooms, bussing, and restrooms as required)
  • Responsible for front of house set-up.  These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: setting up the drink station and condiment stands, stocking candy and chip racks, and doing restroom checks (responsibilities will vary by unit)
  • Responsible for cashier opening procedures
  • Distribute cashier cash drawers and cash reserves and issue overrings/bank verification forms
  • Decide which registers will open and when
  • Assign cashiers accordingly
  • Responsible for cashier closing procedures
  • Make necessary voids
  • Verifiy cashier deposits and drawer amounts
  • Complete daily revenue reports
  • Responsible for maintenance of employee timekeeping system
  • Responsible for daily completion of all unit employee attendance cards
  • Responsible for cleanliness, maintenance, and protection of cash registers and point of sale systems
  • Report and take appropriate action to correct unsafe conditions, unsanitary conditions, or policy infractions within the work area (or within the resort)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Certification in Training for Intervention Procedures by Servers of Alcohol, (TIPS)  (May be obtained after employment)
  • If required, WPRA Snowmobile Certification (to be obtained after employment) (Varies by unit)

Experience:

  • Two years cash handling experience
  • One year supervisory experience desirable
  • Food and Beverage experience is helpful

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer functionality required
  • Must pass a credit check for cash handling

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Food Service Environment:

  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled and the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length at a time over an average shift of 8 hours.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to climb or balance and taste or smell.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to: non slip footwear and gloves.
