 Position: Sales Manager - 

Corporate Market 

Reports To: Director of Sales 

Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8:00 – 5:00 (with some Saturdays and evenings) 

Classification: Exempt 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

The primary function of this position is to increase sales for the hotel, maximizing revenue from group rooms, food & beverage, and meeting room rentals. Assist Director of Sales in market planning. 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS NEEDED: 

Excellent sales management skills with strong experience in securing and managing new sales, preferably in the hospitality/hotel/catering industry. 

Strong leadership sales management experience in leading a dynamic sales team. 

Good office administrative skills including knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point and able to quickly learn other computer software; also able to operate most office equipment. 

Ability to create business letters and other sales correspondence and knowledgeable in working in a professional office setting. 

Must be highly organization with excellent priority setting skills…Demonstrated experience and ability to proactively prioritize needs, put first things first, and effectively manage resources and time. 

Communication …Excellent English or bi-lingual including English verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate well with customers/guests and team members. 

Interpersonal…Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with a diverse group of clients/customers and co-workers. 

Customer service…Excellent customer service experience with a strong knowledge of the importance of providing 100% customer satisfaction. 

PA Drivers License and reliable transportation to be able to attend Trade Shows and to make 

outside sales calls. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

 High School Diploma preferred and additional education in Sales & Marketing or related studies 

highly preferred but not required, will consider experience in lieu of education. 

 2+ years of experience working in a professional sales and sales management position; previous 

sales experience in a hotel or hospitality/catering setting highly preferred but not required. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  This position requires moderate physical requirements and requires the ability to bend, raise and sit / walk for 8 hours of an 8 hour day. 

 Must have average or above use of arms, hands, fingers, etc to operate office equipment and computers, and telephone. 

 Must have average or above hearing and vision to operate office equipment, computers, and telephones. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

 Seek out and establish new accounts and leads in addition to maintaining proper traces for files assigned. 

 Work closely with other outside sales people, Banquet Coordinator, Food & Beverage Manager, Front Office Manager and Reservations Manager. 

 Produce daily sales calls for the solicitation and booking of profitable business. Report to hotel in morning prior to making outside call in afternoon after daily activity. 

 Maintain complete and accurate sales files, trace system, weekly and monthly booking reports, weekly activity and expense reports and weekly schedule. 

 Adhere strictly to established booking procedures and sales office procedures followed by the entire sales office; i.e. blocking rooms and space in function books, writing contracts and proposals, addition procedures, trace and follow-up procedures. 

 Effectively communicate customer needs to banquet Coordinator, Reservations Manager, and any other departments heads relating to performing a service for the customer, including being available at important functions to greet customers and to insure proper service. 

 Attend and actively participate in sales meetings and marketing planning sessions to assist in budgeting, advertising, and promotions. 

 Review noteworthy customers routinely with director of Sales and provide customer feedback. 

 Attend banquets, meetings and "sales blitzes" as requested by the Director of Sales or by your involvement with social and business memberships; all to enhance the hotel reputation. 

 Entertain potential clients for the purpose of securing group business. Conduct at least four site inspections per week. 

 Be informed of competitors and aware of changes in their marketing approach and to inform the hotel of any changes. 

 Think and use your best judgment in soliciting new business in accordance with the guidelines set-up by the hotel. 

 Participate in Manager on Duty schedule and early/late coverage of the Sales Office. 

 Assist in training all employees in the hotel to be sales motivated and customer oriented. 

 Exemplify through actions high morale, team work and guest awareness, with a goal of achieving 100% customer satisfaction. 

 Adheres to hotel policies and procedures, attends work on time as scheduled, and follows all safety and security rules and procedures.
