About This Job

The Sheraton Suites Orlando Airport  is looking for a Line Cook to join their Culinary team! The Line Cook is responsible for producing all orders required by business volume and supervisor as quickly and efficiently as possible while ensuring the highest quality product at all times. Also responsible for producing all orders on an a la carte basis and prepping for buffets, banquets, salad bars and hors d’oeuvres. This is a full time position.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Know all menu items and enforce the proper preparation and presentation on all items daily.
  • Know all procedures and menus for all meal periods, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Know all breakfast buffet  procedures and occasionally work with the buffet cook to train and ensure quality.
  • Prepare all orders as turned in by waitstaff and ensure all orders are cooked quickly and according to the order; also that food leaves the kitchen in peak condition.
  • Ensure that all food is stored in proper containers and at proper storage and holding temperatures.
  • Cook only sufficient food in advance to cover expected business volume and to maintain quality.
  • Prepare all food needed by other kitchen departments which is best prepared by this department.
  • Prepare all food for the next shift and for the following day as required and directed by Supervisor.
  • Report to work for scheduled shift on time and in uniform in accordance with company policy.
  • Know and comply with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties.
  • Take the initiative to greet guests in a friendly and warm manner.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Food Safety:
    • Maintain all food safety procedures as required by State and Local Laws and by Sheraton Standards.
    • Keep proper usage, cooling and reheating records.
    • Take ownership of the cleanliness of the Sky Grille kitchen and the condition of the walk-ins.
    • Must take the Servsafe course and pass the test to be certified

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1 year of experience as a banquet or restaurant cook 
  • Previous culinary training
  • Certified in food handling and food safety sanitation requirements
  • A pleasant attitude and outgoing personality
  • The ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations
  • Strong verbal communication
  • excellent time-management skills
  • The ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple changing priorities is a must!
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail
  • The ability to understand guest service needs and the ability to work cohesively with co-workers and other departments as part of a team.

This is a full time position. Scheduled hours will vary weekly between Monday-Sunday. Weekdays, weekends and holidays are required. (Position will mostly be PM shift)

This position will require a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen. Our company participates in E-Verify.
