About This Job

Summary:

          Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly and annual hotel – sales department – personal room revenue budgets based on professional and consistent implementation of the below specific duties and responsibilities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (include the following.  Other duties may be assigned):

Research, solicitation, follow through, Sales Pro documentation and consistent “working” of designated local-area – regional – national accounts and  / or designated geographic area the Corporate markets (Group & LNR), state association, government, cruise and sports markets.

 Prospecting & Outside Sales calls to targeted GDS companies and travel agencies, both locally and regionally. Also prospecting and outside sales calls to the local, state and national level for sporting events and meetings.

Complete monthly presentations both on and off site with local targeted and top companies. 

Commitment to ongoing relationship building with established business clientele (80/20 rule) while focusing on the goal of obtaining new business. 

  •  Achieve all “Hard Core”, “Other Sales” and “Administration” team goals. 
  •  As mentioned in “Summary”, meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, annual hotel / sales department personal room revenue budgets.
  •  Weekly telephone research professionally qualifying all local – regional – national contacts and Corporate contacts for appropriate defined “Hard Core” (HC), “Other Sales” (OS), and “Administration” (ADM) sales manager sales activities.  
  •  Attend weekly sales staff meetings as designated by the Director of Sales and Marketing.
  •  On an annual basis, where assigned, assist property Director of Sales and Marketing in completing annual “Sales / Marketing Plan”. 
  •  On a monthly basis, complete all assigned / designated sales activities outlined in appropriate months “Sales / Marketing Plan”.
  •  Upon request of your own clients and in the absence of appropriate designated sales personnel for other clients, book overnight accommodations and/or meeting room – catering business according to hotel standards, policies and procedures.  If not your own clients, communicate clearly all transactions made to appropriate sales personnel.
  •  Correspond with active or potential customers providing any requested information concerning bids, proposals, confirmation of bookings, thank you letters, follow up letters, etc.  In conjunction with other sales office personnel, utilize all aspects of “Sales Pro” to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all Sales Department functions and transactions.
  •  Attend any designated industry trade shows and sporadic feeder market / account trips.  (3-5 day visits)
  •  Local community involvement as it benefits the hotel via approved memberships. (Must be approved by Director of Sales and and General Manager)
  •  Submit required weekly expense reports and other requested weekly / monthly / quarterly and annual reports.
  •  Adhere to time and attendance policy as established by Director of Sales and General Manager and Hospitality Ventures.
  •  Present a clean, pleasant and professional image to project a positive, polished appearance to potential guests and clients.
  •  Contribute and work as a “Team” member in all facets of the position.
  •  Perform other services and duties as requested by the Director of Sales and/or General Manager.  Sales Managers may be called upon to host functions and participate in, or conduct sales blitzes, travel and work extended hours to achieve department goals.

Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

          College graduate or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills:

          Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public

 

Mathematical Skills:

          Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume Ability to apply concepts of basic math and budgeting

 Reasoning Ability:

          Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exist  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
