About This Job

The Manager, Global Procurement is part of the Global Operations (GO) department, which is known for taking ideas into implementation across all brands, disciplines, and continents. This position will report to the Sr. Director, Global Procurement in Global Operations. The Manager is the global subject matter expert responsible for Printing and Collateral Fulfillment for our Corporate offices and over 7,000 properties worldwide.

Key accountabilities include:  

  1. Manages multi-million-dollar printing contracts and strategic partnerships
  2. Establishes strategy for Global Print;
  3. Sourcing one-off print materials and related items
  4. Savings reporting and analysis
  5. Improves quality of printed collateral and consistency of color and paper worldwide.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Liberal Arts or related field; plus 4+ years of business experience in an ad agency or large Corporation with responsibility for sourcing and managing print.

Required

  • Elevated understanding of print technologies and processes
  • Understanding of the global market for paper
  • Experience with creative and pre-press workflow
  • Contract negotiation and management

Preferred

  • Passionate about their craft/area of specialization
  • Expertise in one of the following areas: managing multi-brand platforms, client support, vendor management, account management skills or project management skills
  • Able to listen and incorporate new information and viewpoints.
  • Equipped with strong presentation, verbal and written skills; attention to detail
  • Be self-directed to influence and collaborate across multiple areas of the organization while creatively maximizing resource utilization
  • Comfortable in a deadline-driven environment, often with changing business priorities
  • Ability to benchmark other business to identify effective technologies, processes, design innovations and trends
  • Unique drive to continue pushing the product and service forward
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills with ability to work with cross functional teams

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  1. Manages multi-million-dollar contracts and strategic partnerships
    1. Informs contracts for print providers; work with Global/Continent Procurement on program improvements
    2. Identifies, vest and approves vendors
    3. Holds planning meeting with preferred and approved venders to develop annual business plan
  1. Establishes strategy for Global Print; continue to evolve the program
    1. Defines multi-year strategy for company in collaboration with Loyalty, Brand, and Marketing
    2. Partners and provides input to Brand regarding specifications and design
    3. Represents company at key industry and trade events to understand evolving trends and technology
    4. Identifies upgrades to existing platforms and develop processes to prioritize and secure funding source
  1. Maintains company-wide standards, policies, governance
    1. Partners with Continent, Brand, and Operations leaders to establish global policies and governance related to current and new technology strategies
    2. Maintains companywide standards (Operations, Brand) on Marriott Global Source (MGS) and other required portals
    3. Partners with Global Quality team to define and monitor Brand Standards as identified
