About This Job


Serves as a lead SIEM engineer who will work closely with various cyber security teams to provide collaborative architecture, engineering-level support and lifecycle management for a large Splunk-based SIEM implementation and requisite services.  


Education and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences or related field or equivalent experience/certification
  • 5+ years of experience in an information security function
  • 3+ years of experience with Splunk Enterprise and/or Splunk Enterprise Security SIEM systems.


  • Current information security certification, including Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
  • Subject matter expert in management and hands-on implementation of Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Enterprise Security SIEM systems.
  • Good level of familiarity with common enterprise infrastructure systems, services and concepts pertaining to general networking, next-gen firewalls, endpoint protection, IDS, IPS, vulnerability management, Linux and Windows OS, databases and logging platforms.
  • Background in IT security/systems administration or IT security/systems engineering
  • Working knowledge of ISO 270001, Cloud Security Alliance Cloud Control Matrix
  • Intermediate (or greater) skill level in Python and shell scripting
  • Hands-on experience with the configuration and management of Rsyslog or Syslog-ng
  • Technical leadership experience in a sourced environment
  • Project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skill
  • Ability to manage the details and compliance with standards


  • Analyzes and manages performance and health of SIEM platform and requisite services.
  • Designs, engineers and implements solutions and integrations to meet security requirements pertaining to logging and monitoring functions.
  • Provides tier-3 support for operational escalations or technical issues pertaining to SIEM operation or integrations.
  • Works closely with Cyber Threat, Cyber Incident Response and Security Engineering team members to develop solutions to address emerging threats, support requested service enhancements, and to discuss new security monitoring use cases.
  • Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of the SIEM platform and requisite services to identify operational improvements, reduce costs, increase performance and automate where possible.   
  • Provides direction to service providers for infrastructure management and maintenance.
  • Shares knowledge in areas of expertise with other associates to facilitate team growth in new skills, adoption of methodologies and best practices.
  • Provides governance, oversight and tactical direction pertinent to security logging or monitoring functions.
  • Collaborates with teams to develop architecture and governance model pursuant to evolving policy, requirements and business needs.
  • Provides technical oversight, standardization and regular review of SIEM platform and requisite service for compliance with security and privacy policies.
  • Produces documentation for SIEM service management, SOP and governance pursuant to security and privacy policy.
  • Participates in the evaluation and selection of security service products.
  • Utilizes capability modeling to align systems strategy and planning with business strategy and goals.
  • Proactively notifies leadership of issues pertaining to degraded service, security or other sensitive matters.
