About This Job

Position Summary:

  • The daily management of all front office/guest service operations with direction from the General Manager / Assistant General Manager including providing guests with personal service and attention exceeding their expectations.
  • Directing and coordinating the activities of the Front Desk or Guest Services areas and to ensure quality guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages front desk staff to ensure smooth and efficient operation during the assigned shift. 
  • Create and communicate the daily sales strategy to the front desk staff each shift to optimize hotel sell out efficiency.
  • Creatively sell the hotel out by doing such things as overselling and working with other hotel properties in the area to use hotel for referrals when sold out.
  • Train and develop current and new staff member to perform at a peak level by empowering them to solve guest issues, top-down selling as well as effectively fading rate to capture walk-in business.
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff. Assigns and instructs guest service agents in the details of work. Observes performance and encourages improvement. 
  • Hold monthly staff meetings to discuss front desk issues and continually train the front desk to further develop their skill set.
  • Uses creative management skills to solve guest and team member problems. Ensures compliance with company standards to ensure consistent high quality guest relations. 
  • Manages desk, resolves guest concerns, handle emergencies and other challenges that may occur during the assigned shift. Implements resolutions by using discretion and judgment.
  • Act as PM hotel MOD when scheduled.
  • Greets customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome, uses a positive and clear speaking voice, listens to and understands requests, issues, and situations from both guests and team members. 
  • Other duties as assigned, of which the associate is capable of performing.




  • High school diploma (or GED); at least two to three years of related management experience
  • A two or four year degree in related field is strongly preferred
  • Physical requirements include the ability to climb stairs and stand/walk for extended periods of time; lift up to 50 pounds occasionally; and function in an active work setting with fluctuating temperatures.
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand the English language
  • Possess good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to effectively deal with associates requests and complaints.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well in pressure situations
