About This Job

Job Summary:

Responsible in achieving the Catering and Banquet sales objectives and revenue goal of the hotel.

Under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Sales and Marketing, implements sales activities and maximizes hotel business opportunities.

Develops strong rapport and builds business relationship with local customer base through sales and customer interviews.

Assists the Director of Sales and Marketing in the development of Sales & Marketing plan and in budget preparation.

Manages and administers the Catering sales department to ensure smooth operation and all daily tasks are completed according to standard and in time.

Coordinates with departments concerned to ensure delivery of the highest standards of services to meet customer expectations.

Oversees day to day sales effort of Account Director, Catering Sales Manager, Catering Sales Specialist with specific responsibilities for directing sales, training and implementing actions plans set forth in the marketing plans.

It is required that he/she, together with the team, develops further product knowledge of the hotel.

Duties & Responsibilities:

To work with the Director of Sales & Marketing and Director of F&B to establish the strategic business plan for Catering Sales.

Consult with Executive Chef to prepare menus, which will attract business and yield a satisfactory profit.

Assists with the development of new product themes and services.

Assists with the development of marketing strategies.

Takes into account external economic issues when planning and making decisions.

Manages financial reports, analysis, budgets and make pricing decisions for the department.

Ensures the achievement of business objectives according to budgeted guidelines for revenue and costs.

Coordinates work operations within the department as well as other related departments.

Prevents and resolves all guest concerns.

To negotiate with clients ensuring that profitability guidelines of the hotel are adhered to and at the same time, guest needs and expectations are met.

Demonstrates effective and appropriate interaction with guests whilst maintaining a professional approach and image.

Possesses a high level of product and service knowledge in order to promote services and facilities to customers.

Develops appropriate administrative and communication policies and procedures in accordance with hotel’s goals and guidelines.

Conduct development and performance reviews, identifying key personnel for further development and structured career pathing, e.g. PMP, 360 etc.

Accomplishes sales calls on prospective clients to develop and maintain relationship.

Abides by the 1HotelEmployee Handbook.

Abides by both the hotel and SH group policies and procedures.

Abides by the Code of Conduct.

Job Knowledge / Skill:

Leadership skills and knowledge of all tasks within the area of responsibility.

Knowledge and experience in Internet and other major computer programs.

Ability to use Sales and Front Office computer systems.

Knowledge in Corporate, Leisure, MICE and Catering.

Ability and understanding of the market and competition.

Additional Skill required:

Excellent written and spoken Mandarin & English are a must.

Good computer skills with minimum requirement in use of Microsoft Windows 98 or higher, Microsoft Office 97 or higher, Internet and other popular software.

Good interpersonal & communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as a team.
