Assistant General Manager Duties and Responsibilities


  • All positions are expected to adhere to our guiding principle of Leadership, Managing, and Accountability.

  • Provide a strong sense of leadership in all Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) activities. Hospitality and communication – lead by example.

  • Support General Manager (GM) in hiring of all FOH positions

  • Maintain patron satisfaction by monitoring, evaluating, and auditing food, beverage, and service. offerings; build relationships with preferred patrons; maintain good community relations.


  • Respond immediately and directly to all customer complaints. Every negative comment or reaction will be addressed by a manager and no customer leaves unhappy.


  • Assist GM and Sous Chef in developing and implementing strategies to increase year over year sales.


  • Oversite of daily labor costs with direction from GM.


  • Assist in maximizing company profitability with a target margin consistent with annual projections. Establish and monitor financial cost controls.


  • Maintain effective communication with GM, Chef, Head Bartenders, Leads and all staff.       This includes a weekly operations meeting covering any changes, scheduling, updates, goals, and expectations for the following week.


  • Maintain a reasonable response time for all communication. At minimum, a confirmation (by email, slack, text or call) same day with a timeline in regard to a full response.


  • Maintain a reasonable schedule with flexible availability. 5 days on, 1 day on a call, one day off, early mornings, late nights and holidays.


  • Implement company policies and standard operating procedures (SOP).


  • Establish sanitation standards and procedures that comply with health and legal regulations with the advice of the company.


  • Daily monitoring of staff appearance, cleanliness, arrival time, tools etc.


  • Monitor all FOH positions in opening and closing responsibilities and service standards.


  • Along with the GM, implement and oversee floor staff programming (service and hospitality standards) to ensure all aspects are met and exceeded.


  • Be capable of covering any floor position when needed (for emergency purposes only).


  • Monitor restaurant and kitchen flow in regard to timeliness during business hours.


  • Opening and/or closing manager duties; reports, money, shift reports, closing of all spaces.


  • On-boarding / training of all new hires in FOH positions (bartender, server, back server, runner, host); coordinate with leads to schedule bar-specific training


  • Responsible for nightly pre-shift meetings and education with direction from GM


  • Oversight of Sparrow events scope; assisting in events when and where necessary to ensure maximum client satisfaction


  • Responsible for assisting in inventory of all FOH and Bar related spaces and products by the 1st of each month.


  • Ensure nightly reports are sent out each evening at close of shift– respond to all immediate action items noted in reports.


  • Product Ordering: liquor, produce, dry goods, etc on a weekly basis


  • Scheduling: assist GM in managing staff schedule


  • Cash handling procedures maintained to company standard


  • Directly oversee lead server and bartender, delegate weekly responsibilities

Reporting Lines

The AGM reports to and maintains daily communication with the General Manager. The AGM also reports to the Dalmar F&B Director on a weekly basis, and to Dalmar ownership on an annual basis.
