An excellent opportunity to be a part of an extraordinary hotel and company. The newly remodeled Embassy Suites by Hilton San Rafael, located 15 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge is currently recruiting for a Chief Engineer.
Applicants with the right experience who wish to provide our guests with a secure, comfortable environment by maintaining the hotel's assets through ongoing preventative maintenance programs and ensuring that all mechanical and fire/life/safety systems are operating in accordance with our company's standards as well as local, state and federal requirements.
In this role, you will oversee the physical operations of the hotel, including maintenance and repair of interior and exterior of buildings. This will be accomplished by scheduling employees to ensure proper coverage and communicating and enforcing policies and procedures of the hotel. You will be responsible for training employees on current safety issues to ensure compliance with all federal state and local laws and safety regulations. Ensuring the execution and achievement of the hotel's preventive maintenance program goals. Additionally you will:
*oversee adherence to State and Federal OSHA requirements and training
*assist in creating a departmental budget annually
*ensuring tracking and compliance of all inspections
*daily communication with other department managers as well as the engineering team
*maintain pars of needed equipment and parts
*hire, train, schedule direct reports
*determine if work will be done internally or through outside vendors. If outside labor is deemed appropriate then follow the selection process based on bids and history
*assign work orders utilizing online tools
*attend trainings or classes as needed
*insure all team members are following safety rules and procedures
*insure both you and your team are always current with mandatory trainings via Hilton University
*give direct reports effective feedback in a timely manner, both verbally and written when appropriate
*safeguards guests, team members and company assets in the event of an emergency by implementing emergency procedures in conjunction with the General Manager and other senior leadership. Monthly training of situational emergencies to be completed with the assistance of the Director of Human Resources.
*enter and approve invoices
*maintain logs for all utilities, review meter reading and regulate controls
Requirements include basic reading, writing and math skills. You may be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays. This job requires ability to perform the following:regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently standing up and moving about the work area, frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility, frequently bending, stooping and kneeling, frequently working in areas of high temperatures around heavy equipment. You must be able to stand or sit for long periods up to 8 hours.
*Excellent computer skills including Microsoft office and Outlook
*Certified Pool Operators training
*Very good working knowledge of California OSHA
Education & Experience
High school graduate or equivalent vocational training .
Five years of experience in general building maintenance, construction and supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of two years in a leadership capacity. Hotel experience preferred.
Any building trade license/certificates from the state of employment
Ability to communicate in a second language, preferably Spanish
