Position Purpose:  The General Manger will under the direction of the President, maintain the quality and the seamless guest experience at the property. The General Manager is a strategic business leader of the property with responsibility for all aspects of the operation, including guest and employee satisfaction, human resources, financial performance, sales and revenue generation and delivering a return on investment. The General Manager is an essential support to Heritage Hotels & Resorts in creating unforgettable experiences for guests.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  All team members at designated property

Essential Duties and Functions/Responsibilities/Tasks:

  • Work under direction of the President.
  • Maintain positive and professional approach with employees, coworkers, and guests.
  • Establish a revenue strategy that supports the Heritage brand positioning in local market; verifies that demand forecasting and sound revenue practices are in place to maximize yield; identifies ways to grow occupancy, RevPAR, and market share by researching and staying aware of competitor strategies; controls labor and capital expenses.
  • Set goals for performance that coincide with Heritage's plans and vision.
  • Review occupancy and event levels and staff managerial labor accordingly.
  • Drive morale positively as the accountable party to be present and visible to guests and team members.
  • Communicate regularly with property staff regarding job assignments and required time-frame for proper workflow.
  • Assign, train, mentor and direct staff to carry out the exceptional guest experience and foster an environment for employees to be successful in performance, and further feel engaged and valued.
  • Perform interview, hire, disciplinary, and termination actions when necessary for staff.
  • Ensure property compliance with legal, safety, operations, labor, and the Heritage brand product and service standards.
  • Interact with guests and on a frequent basis to obtain feedback of their experiences on property; utilize guest feedback to recognize excellent team member service performance and improve service delivery.
  • Serve as the primary brand advocate/ambassador for Heritage and the property.
  • Maintain active involvement with the local community and build strong relationships with local officials, businesses, and guests.
  • Collaborate with Accounting Department regularly to ensure supplies and equipment are paid for and in the general ledger appropriately.
  • Meet with vendors and contractors to learn about new products and services offered.
  • Oversee / Carry out special projects for property.
  • Other duties as assigned consistent with the functions of this position as needed at any of the properties.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of hospitality software and MS Office required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to multitask.
  • Proven leadership experience in a hotel setting, with a passion to provide exemplary guest service.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and late nights.
  • Ability to work on your feet for eight hours or more.
  • Must be able to lift/push/reach for/carry 30+ pounds occasionally.
  • Minimum of 5 year or equivalent combination of education and experience; hotel management or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent of education and experience.
