JOB SUMMARY

Marriott International, Inc., a leading lodging company with more than 6,000 properties in 122 countries and territories, is looking for a Systems Engineer to join its IT Delivery team. The Systems Engineer serves as a Subject Matter Expert in a complex array of solutions. This position provides support to sourced partners on projects with up to moderate complexity. An ideal candidate will exhibit strong communications skills, be self-motivated, adaptable and dependable. This individual will play a critical role in supporting workgroups and/or functions as a technical resource.  They will contribute in resolving complex issues and providing input for decisions on more complex, non-routine service requests with limited to moderate risk. This role may also be called upon can make contributions into research, analysis, design, creation and implementation of systems to meet current and future user requirements. This individual will collaborate on multiple projects to ensure for successful completion.  

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification
  • 5+ years’ experience in information technology
  • 2+ years’ experience developing technical solutions for end user and workplace services leveraging cloud and virtual technologies.
  • 2+ years’ developing automated technology capabilities in support of desktop and mobile computing platforms
  • 2+ years’ working with enterprise class cloud services and DaaS providers such as Office365, AWS, Workspaces, VMware Horizon, and Azure
  • 2+ years’ maintaining VMWare Horizon platform
  • 3+ years’ working with Windows configuration and patching
  • 2+ years’ working with powershell scripting and powerCLI or other scripting language

Preferred:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of audiences including executives, business stakeholders and IT teams
  • Demonstrated ability to perform independently as a member of a team and through cross functional initiatives
  • 2+ years’ process mapping and automation
  • 2+ years PDQ deploy packaging
  • 2+ years with Agile and Design Thinking
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities
  • Strong passion for technology and the drive to learn new technology
  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience in SQL Server reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, decide and influence appropriate courses of action
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience in requirements analysis/generation and developing systems architectures
  • Experience as a system engineer in programs that encompass systems architecture, requirements analysis, design, production, integration, test and transition into operations
  • Proficiency in Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Provides support, oversight, governance and tactical direction related to the cloud services that are required to enable the delivery of IT services
  • Design quality and always available domain services such as Active Directory, LDAP, and other associated e-Directories
  • Design reliable services for electronic messaging and collaboration services inclusive of email, chat, desktop video, conferencing, file share services and SharePoint services
  • Develop/Design cloud-based services in the form of IaaS, SaaS, or PaaS to help consumerize the end point device experience
  • Develop standards, qualifications and methods for the integration of the workplace architecture with new applications and internet browsers
  • Supports analysis of the current environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommends solutions for improvement
  • Utilizes capability modeling to align systems strategy and planning with business strategy and goals
  • Consults with project teams to identify when it is necessary to modify services to accommodate project needs
  • Supports, implements and promotes standard configuration and change management, processes and practices
  • Develop test plans, implementation plans, and project timelines for assigned projects

Delivering Technology

  • Leads technical design activities and prepares technical specifications tor small and large projects.
  • Supports existing systems and projects in a minimum of one environment.
  • Reviews completeness of requirements prior to Service Provider solutioning
  • Participates with the Service Provider in planning and coordinating implementation, reviewing quality control of systems functional design, usability, functionality, and implementation.
  • Provides input to support desk change management efforts as it relates to support and training of new system
  • Coordinates with appropriate IT and vendor relations teams
  • Ensures early warning to the leadership regarding degraded or missed service levels

IT Governance

  • Follows all defined IR standards and processes (i.e. IT Governance, SM&G, Architecture, etc.), and provides input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed
  • Maintains a proper balance between business and operational risk
  • Follows the defined project management standards and processes

Service Provider Management

  • Validates that Service Providers develop and manage respective aspects of a project plan, including schedules, deliverables, and appropriate metrics.
  • Provides input to plans to effectively utilize resources
  • Monitors Service Provider outcomes
  • Provides estimates of work effort for client project provided by Service Providers for accuracy
  • Facilitates timely resolution of service delivery problems and minimizes the impact to clients
