CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN
Overview
BPR Properties is a multi-state, real estate and management company based in High Point, North Carolina. We are currently seeking a qualified Foreman to lead our construction project teams. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in the construction field, superior leadership skills, and a commitment to safety above all else. The Construction Foreman will provide on-site coordination for all phases of the company’s construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, material, and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. The Construction Foreman is also responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety.
Responsibilities/What You'll Do
- For all project team members, promote development of knowledge base, leadership skills, and partnership by modeling effective performance; encourage discussion and debate over solutions and approaches, prompting team members to recognize challenges early and plan ahead for important project activities; and regularly provide motivational and constructive feedback
- Establish schedules, monitor attendance, train, and supervise job performance of crew
- Verify timesheets/hours worked
- Coordinate and assign tasks according to priorities and project plans
- Ensure staffing levels and resources are adequate to meet project demands
- Open jobsite at the beginning of the day and securing the jobsite at the end of the day
- Supervise the use of machinery and equipment
- Maintain a safe work environment at all times, ensuring all safety precautions and quality standards are followed by all (including the use of LO/TO, wearing appropriate PPE, etc.); provide project-specific safety training highlighting key or unique hazards introduced by site conditions and immediately address identified hazards; clearly communicate safety expectations and emphasize the importance of not sacrificing safety for any reason
- Complete thorough and accurate daily reports of progress and concerns or challenges, including daily weather and safety inspections, violations, and accidents
- Ensure efficient use of materials, resources, and equipment investments
- Schedule sub-contractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure timely completion (effectively work with sub-contractors to get the job done right, the first time, on time, AND within budget
- Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed; inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules
- Ensure that subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his/her contracted scope of work
- Verify that every contractor (all tiers) has a current insurance certificate on file before beginning work on the project site.
- Continuously assess and analyze project's actual status against goals, develop contingency plans, and revise construction strategy as needed
- When conflicts and disputes arise during the project, focus all parties on developing mutually acceptable solutions aligned with contractual agreements
- Practice being a "good neighbor" on and around each project site; create lasting relationships with state and local code officials
- Coordinate required inspection with local jurisdictions
- Address sub-contractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards
- Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team for resolution
Your Team
The Construction Foreman will supervise employees, sub-contractors, consultants, and vendors daily. The Foreman will ensure adequate and competent staffing is available for each task performed.
Required Experience and Qualifications/You Must Be Able To
- Minimum of five years of construction experience as a foreman or superintendent requiring professionalism and integrity
- Have a passion for team-based planning and problem-solving and wholehearted commitment to building strong partnerships to support project goals
- Establish schedule momentum
- Assure construction quality
- Proficient computer skills with ability to quickly learn and utilize software/project management tools
- Interpret specifications and coordinate various phases of construction to prevent delays
- Order procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems
- Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints

Preferred (but not required)
- Certification or license in a skilled trade (electrician, carpenter etc.)
- Progressive experience in skilled trades, construction management or related field
- Successful completion of classes or other training in construction management, project management, safety, communication
