The Design & Projects Manager - Greater China & Mongolia (Shenzhen Based) is responsible for managing Hilton’s interests for all Architectural, Design & Construction (AD&C) aspects of selected Focus Services Brands Development Projects in China, new buildings or conversions, continuing efforts to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

What will I be doing?

As the Design & Projects Manager - Greater China & Mongolia, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Project involvement from inception to opening.

  • Provide leadership of these projects as the principal Hilton representative to and from owners and project consultants.

  • Ensure internal communications and effective relationships on those projects with all other Hilton departments and specialists including Brands, F&B, Development, Pre-opening and Operations.

  • Assist Hilton development to secure agreements for new hotel developments or conversions.

  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of brand standards, narratives and attributes for Focus Service brands active in China.

  • Work effectively with owners and consultants to optimize the design, construction and opening of projects.

  • Review designs at all stages of projects for conformity to Hilton Focus Service brand standards, Design & Construction guidelines and corporate brand direction.

  • Work effectively with the Global Shared Services team on brand standards and signage issues.

  • Report regularly to the Management regarding projects status and issues.

  • Present to owners, Hilton management and other technical services their projects.

  • Prepare project, design briefs and guidelines as well as facilities schedules and area programs.

  • Prepare, present and participate in monthly project review meetings as well as regular design reviews, periodic site reviews and review of guestroom mock-ups.

  • Prepare and maintain non-compliance schedules for AD&C standards, FLS and Brands standards, coordinate with Brands on waivers for non-compliant items.

  • Contribute to the creative and constructive process of value engineering.

  • Work with Hilton’s Pre-opening team, the General Manager and team during the pre-opening phase.

  • Prepare selected projects to submit to the Design Review Committee (DRC) for review.

  • Participate in post-opening design reviews with Operations.

  • Coordinate with QA for pre-opening QA inspections.

  • Prepare and maintain a Development & Training Plan for associated training programs.

  • Travel extensively within the region for projects or client meetings.


What are we looking for?

A Design & Projects Manager - Greater China & Mongolia serving Hilton Brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviors, skills, and values that follow:

  • 3+ years of experience with management or design of hotel projects in Asia Pacific with majority in China

  • Architect, Interior Designer and / or Project Manager experience

  • Fluent in English and Chinese to meet business needs

  • International hotel experience

  • Able to work effectively with owners, developers, design consultants, contractors and with all Hilton departments (including Executive management, Development, Pre-opening, Operations, Brand management and other Technical Services team members)

  • Able to review Architectural, ID fit-outs and other designs quickly, making constructive suggestions for improvements

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Good communications skills (both written and verbal)

  • Able to work on multiple projects at one time

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Proficient in CAD and Database
