JOB SUMMARY:

Sells product, processes orders, serves food and drinks to guests in the dining room; accurately processes guest check payments; maintains all Company policies, health, safety and sanitation standards.  Focus is exceeding guests’ expectations through excellent service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Greets table, answers questions, makes suggestions regarding food and service. (16%)

• Presents check, accurately processes guest check payments and balances receipts at the end of the shift/day. (16%)

• Serves drinks from service alley and/or bar, serves meals from kitchen. (16%)

• Observes guests and responds to additional requests to determine when the meal has been completed. (16%)

• Communicate with guests; anticipates needs (20%).

• Keeps table cleared of used plates, trash, empty glasses. (8%)

• Follows all health, safety and sanitation standards. (8%)    

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Table greeted, food/drinks served in a timely, courteous manner. Smiles at all times!
• Anticipates guests needs and responds to any problems--addresses both with an equal sense of urgency.
• Knows Cool River food, and how it is prepared.
• Serves a three/four table station maintaining all Cool River service standards throughout the shift.
• Personal appearance to Company standards each day/shift.
• Supports other front-of-house functions.
• Maintains a cheerful demeanor and understands the value of a smile.
• Deposits cash drops and secures bank.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Understands that focus of job is to exceed guests’ expectations -- finds ways to say “yes” to the guest -- notifies management immediately when there is a guest complaint or a failure to meet a guest’s expectation has occurred and works with management to then exceed the guest’s expectation in resolving the situation.
• In some areas, food handlers permit may be required.
• Ability to handle cash and credit card transactions. Guest transactions are handled through server banking -- there are no cashiers in the restaurant.
• Significant movement required throughout the shift.
• Stooping; twisting upper body, grasping and handling small, heavy objects (plates of food, silverware, trays, etc.).
• Carry plates of food weighing up to 10 pounds from the kitchen to the dining room 25 to 30 times per shift.
• Extensive verbal interaction with guest. Out-going; comfortable with people.  Smiles easily.
• Ability to walk, move quickly while carrying objects weighing up to 30 pounds with one arm held above shoulder level.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Extreme environmental demands on front-of house staff are few -- the majority of work takes place indoors in climate-controlled areas. 

The only chemicals involved in these jobs are of the cleaning variety.  Training is given as to the appropriate use of these cleaning agents.

During a typical shift a front-of-the-house associate will have intense guest contact and be involved in moderately to very stressful and sometimes frustrating situations.  Associates must work well with limited supervision within their specific job functions but must be highly interactive with co-workers to accomplish work -- must be able to be a team player.
