About This Job


Cool River managers have the responsibility for the successful operation of the restaurant.  They must exhibit a balanced approach to developing the business by effectively managing people, quality of operations, and profitability.  They will be accountable for the following:

  1. Ensuring the quality of operations by adhering to our company standards.
  2. Ensuring that all associates utilize proper product preparation and service procedures.
  3. Ensuring that food and beverage recipes and menu presentation standards are followed.
  4. Maintaining all safety/sanitation standards.
  5. Conducting operations at the restaurant in compliance with all company rules, guidelines, and standards.
  6. Providing constructive feedback on company direction and the decisions of the company’s upper management.
  7. Ensuring effective communications at all levels.
  8. Actively training and developing associates.
  9. Following a two interview system and maintaining hiring standards.
  10. Effectively managing associate retention.
  11. Ensuring proper orientation and training for new hires by following training guidelines.
  12. Providing daily on-the-job coaching and feedback.
  13. Creating an environment with high expectations for associates (as observed through shift evaluations.)
  14. Identifying performance problems and developing and implementing a plan of action to correct the problems.
  15. Optimizing sales and profits to achieve or exceed established financial plan.
  16. Actively participating in the community to increase sales and enhance awareness of the restaurant.
  17. Operating within established P&L budgets to meet or exceed the plan.
  18. Ensuring the timely and accurate completion of all administrative tasks.
  19. Providing a positive and upbeat environment for associates and guests through effective training and daily management of associates.
  20. Maintaining all assets of the company through an effective repair and maintenance program.

Responsibilities for all Managers:

  1. Ensure the use of food and beverage recipes.
  2. Identify and correct food quality problems.
  3. Prepare daily prep list.
  4. Understand and enforce product specifications and food handling procedures.
  5. Properly place and receive product orders.
  6. Perform memorable table visits at 100% of our tables.
  7. Set the pace in the restaurant.
  8. Manage all areas of the restaurant by circulating through each area regularly throughout each and every shift.
  9. Maintain their own proficiency in each associates job functions to standard.
  10. Conduct all new hire orientations, and monitor training of associates.
  11. Effectively handle guest’s complaints and crisis situations.
  12. Utilize shift meetings as a communication tool
  13. Maintain quality service.
  14. Provide verbal and written feedback to associates.
  15. Participate in the two-interview system.
  16. Make effective hiring and terminating decisions.
  17. Use managers log book as a communication tool.
  18. Discipline fairly and consistently.
  19. Accurately complete personnel and training paperwork.
  20. Ensure use of repair and maintenance program.
  21. Promote excellent cleanliness standards.
  22. Have operational knowledge of all equipment.
  23. Ensure that all administrative and security policies are followed.
  24. Participate in monthly inventories.
  25. Complete all tasks in regard to his/her assigned associate department.
  26. Contribute to meeting and exceeding cost control goals.
  27. Maintain effective staffing levels.
  28. Review and approve invoices daily.
  29. Review P&L results with District Manager.
  30. Maintain a comfortable environment (lights, temperature, etc.).
  31. Recognize 20 regular customers by name.
  32. Participate in his/her own development by seeking input on performance.
