The Shoals Club on Bald Head Island is looking for a candidate to fill our kitchen assistant position. This position will give you access to learn about the industry and will expose you to more than just the tasks mentioned below. GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Under direct supervision, maintains kitchen work areas, restaurant equipment, dishes, utensils, pots and pans in a clean and orderly condition.  Reports to the Executive Chef or Sous Chef on duty.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK

Essential Functions:

• Scrapes food from dirty dishes and places them in racks or on conveyor to dish washing machine; washes pots, pans, trays and some utensils by hand.  Puts all clean pots, pans and dishes away in proper storage area.
• Maintains general cleanliness of kitchen area by washing worktables, walls, refrigerators, kitchen equipment and meat blocks; sweeps and mops all floors in kitchen.
• Segregates and removes trash and places it in designated containers; cleans trash containers.  Puts all supplies away, in their designated place, making sure all stock is properly rotated, by hand and/or hand truck.
• Assists cooks with basic prep and production of food items

Additional Functions:

• Help set up for any special events.
• Performs other related work as required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Ability to read, write and some restaurant or dishwashing experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience to provide the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT (S)

Requires the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
