Title: Sales Manager

Position Requirements: This position reports to the Director of Sales and will work with them to build and strengthen relationships with existing and new clients to secure future bookings.

• Serve the client by understanding their needs and recommending appropriate features and services that best meet their needs.

• Have a good understanding of hotel operations. Will understand how each department interfaces with the others and how this impacts and influences the sales effort. Will work well with all hotel departments.
• Book appropriate business that allows the hotel to exceed monthly room revenue goals and other budgets specific to the hotel.
• Will have a working knowledge of convention sales and city-wide events.
• Will have an understanding of the brand and represent brand initiatives and culture.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for generating proposals
• Formulating rate agreement and group contracts
• Collecting rooming lists from clients
• Prospecting new corporate accounts and new group business
• Telemarketing and cold calls to potential hotel clients
• Providing other departments with group resumes with accurate and detailed information
• Communicating pick-up and cut-offs of groups with hotel team, booking contacts, and third-party intermediaries
• The ability to maintain flexible/extended work hours and minimal travel as needed by job demand functions. Minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Plan and execute meeting space and catering needs
• Maintain social media accounts according to the brand and company guidelines
• Maintain detailed records and provide reporting to Director of Sales, management group, and hotel ownership
• Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Sales or General Manager

Market and Competitor Knowledge:

• Have an awareness of companies/groups in your segment that are relocating, expanding, downsizing, closing down, etc. and how that could affect the hotel's performance.
• Understand the overall competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, rate structures, sales team structure, special corporate, room inventory, and how to sell against them.
• Knowledge of any new supply that is coming into the market or any rebranding of competitor hotels.

Minimum Qualifications/Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. 3+years of experience related to hotel sales is required. Marriott sales experience is preferred.
