POSITION: Yacht Deckhand

REPORTS TO:       Boat Captain / Director of Engineering


Assist Boat Captain with maintaining yacht and guests in gulf, lagoon and bay and provide high level of guest satisfaction and safety to those aboard the vessel.  Other responsibilities include maintaining the cleanliness of the yacht and other duties assigned by the Boat Captain.


  • Greet and assist members and guests with a professional, flexible, and accommodating manner.
  • Responsible for all areas of the Marine Transportation safety, security, and training.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the boat.
  • Maintain professional composure in high stress environment.
  • Demonstrate safe and effective Vessel operation boat management skills.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment of boat operations, weather conditions, and with an awareness of the overall guest environment.
  • Assist boat captain with Emergency drills in accordance with US Coast Guard and State of Florida regulations.
  • Routinely participate in safety meetings and setting expectations to ensure an efficient and safe operation of the vessel, including proper use of equipment during any possible onboard emergency.
  • Assist boat captain with maintaining vessel operations and maintenance logs, personnel reports, and other Ship business records.
  • Ensure vessel is in safe operating condition and verify all safety equipment is in the proper location and functioning appropriately.
  • Notify Boat Captain of any repairs needed and coordinate repairs, as well as make sure to document.


  • Minimum age requirement –18 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the requirements of driver insurability as established by the insurance carrier required.
  • Must hold a current Boaters Safety Certification
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen test
  • Must be CPR certified and first responder certified
  • Basic computer skills including email

  • Prior experience on similar size vessel preferred.

Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on a frequent basis.

Must be able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, heat) and work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and evenings.

Must have the ability to communicate in English.  Self-starting personality with an even disposition.  Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.  Can communicate well with guests.  Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.  Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.  Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and push and pull 50 lbs..
