About This Job

Our AAA Five Diamond Resort is seeking a Assistant Director of Tennis to join our team at the award winning Racquet Club! Ponte Vedra Beach Resorts is looking for a seasoned Tennis Professional to oversee Racquet Club operations, ensure both member and resort guest satisfaction as well as manage front desk staff, teaching professionals, facilities and tennis shop.

EDUCATION:      High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language at a level sufficient to communicate effectively with staff.                  

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: 5 years of experience at a private club with at least 2 years of experience in a head professional or assistant director role, USPTA and/or PTR Certified, PPR Certified.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Working knowledge of all types of tennis programming, running local, state, and national tennis tournaments.  Be able to set up front desk, teaching pro, and maintenance working schedules.  Able to supply, sell, and market all aspects of tennis shop, understand and implement water schedules, tennis camps, drills, and all manner of social events. Professional skills in dealing with members required.

JOB SUMMARY:  Directs all aspects of the Racquet Club maintaining exceptional member relations, the highest quality standards, maximizing sales and profits.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:  Must be physically fit, be able to play tennis at a very high standard and teach tennis in periods up to 8 hours a day.  Be able to stand in various weather conditions.


Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include weekends, holidays and split shifts. 

Arrive to work on time, consistently.

Upon entering the property, arrive in proper uniform, crisp, clean and in good repair.

Hair must be clean and cut in a becoming style; management has final approval.

Attend all required training, safety courses, office and departmental meetings.

Report any safety hazards, follow up that hazard has been corrected, and assist with providing a safe work environment.

Become proficient on all appropriate equipment and safety features. 

Greet members and guests by name whenever possible. 

Plans and directs instructional programs assisting the Tennis Director

Organizes, administers, exhibitions, inter- and intra-club leagues, social events, and tournaments.

Administers and enforces club tennis policies and procedures regarding play on the club courts.

Assists in writing and editing all tennis-related news for the club's newsletter (includes photos when possible).

Engages and interacts with members and guest.

Assist the Tennis Director in managing the pro shop.

Ensures that all club members and guests receive courteous, prompt and professional attention to all their tennis needs.

Supervises Tennis Professionals and desk staff with the Director of Tennis.

Assists in developing a detailed annual calendar programs and events.

Inspects and maintains all physical areas constantly.

Represents the club in area professional tennis activities and at state or national tennis events with approval from the club.

Is visibly present on the courts during peak periods of play.

  • Display an energetic and outgoing personality, a genuine love for tennis, and a desire to promote and grow the racquets program.
  • Provide beginner through advanced instruction (lessons and clinics) for all levels of players.
  • Be a leader in the promotion of special events, tennis clinics, private lessons, and programs to attract and maintain Members/Guest interest.
  • Completes other appropriate assignments made by the Tennis Director
  • Quickly and efficiently responds to member/guest questions, comments, and concerns.
  • Helps promote the pro shop, strings, racquets, and other equipment.
  • Assist the Director of Tennis with managing all aspects of the daily racquet operations to consistently achieve a premium 5 Diamond private club member experience.
  • Develops safe, professional, and comprehensive tennis lessons/clinics, and programs to ensure players develop along a pathway that will encourage continued involvement in tennis.
  • Enforces all club rules and regulations governing the use of the club/facility, its equipment and other property.
  • Assists with racquet stringing and court maintenance when needed.
  • Present a professional image at all times. Your personal appearance is extremely important in developing and maintaining the image of the club
  • Display an energetic and outgoing personality, a genuine love for tennis, and a desire to promote and grow the racquets program.
  • Be a leader and ambassador of the Club.
